"The workshop production of the musical version of Jagged Little Pill will feature all of the songs off the album, as well as tracks from her other works as well as new music Morissette will write specifically for the show. Two-time Tony Award winner Tom Kitt (Next To Normal, Green Day’s American Idiot) has signed on to provide orchestrations and arrangements."

Gotta say I'm looking forward to this one. Definitely one of the albums I remember most fondly growing up. "Your House" is one of the best songs.

I don't think it would be possible for me to be more excited about the prospect of any upcoming more than this. As someone who's followed Alanis very closely since 1995 (she's the only person I've ever followed on tour) and knows every word to everything she's ever written…this is incredible. I'm glad it's going to branch out into other albums as well, hopefully into SUPPOSED…, UNDER RUG SWEPT, FEAST ON SCRAPS which all have such a wealth of songs that if treated properly could really fit well into a musical.

Man, this just made my day.

I wanna play Dave Coulier!

Seriously...she and I were born on the same day in the same year. She's the only celebrity I've ever felt cosmically connected to.

Shoot, even if this is an oratorio, that is a solid album from start to finish. I wont mind just seeing it as a concert.

Jagged Little Pill was an incredible album. I saw her in concert right after it was released, and she was a terrific performer.

My one issue with the material as a theatrical catalogue is that so many of those songs (and some but not all of her additional album material) contained such angry lyrics. Jagged Little Pill was essentially an aural rant at full speed and full volume. People pointed it out at the time, too, but on stage with characters acting out these songs? It could be deadly. It would make Follies look like Up With People.

I hope she'll finally straighten out the meaning of the word "Ironic."

I imagine any supplemental stuff will be upbeat because that is a pretty melancholy album. It will also be interesting to see what they do with the songs, they are pretty 90s grungy sounding. Anyway this shapes up, it was a really significant album and a neat moment in time.

I hope they use Uninvited and Thank You. Good upbeat songs: Hands Clean, So Pure.

Correction - It IS an incredible album and she IS a terrific performer. :)

But if you listen to her acoustic version of the album from 2005, you'll see that a lot of the "anger" from the original has subsided and works in a more toned down, thoughtful way. Plus it's not just that one album that's going to be used here and she has a wide range of material in her catalogue to pull from to tell whatever story it is they're going to craft.

I hope "Uninvited" makes it in. I'm not a HUGE Morissette fan (I was team Robin Sparkles), but that song gives me chills every time I hear it.

I am really excited about the prospect of this.

Did everyone forget Hand in My Pocket? That upbeat little nugget really sounded out of place to me on the Jagged Little Pill album. Like it was the lost Sheryl Crow track that crashed the wrong party.

Anyone else love Havoc and Bright Lights?

Besides "Hand in my Pocket" you have "Head over Feet" which is a sweet, upbeat love song too... so its not all yelling and heartache.

There's just so many songs that could work in a musical. Songs like "That Particular Time" for instance, could tell the entire story of two people's relationship.

But like I said before, most of her songs can do that because Alanis is a BRILLIANT storyteller. And that's exactly what you need to tell a story on stage through music.
