Usdan 10/6 Chess Challenge

Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts, the renowned summer arts camp whose alumni include Natalie Portman, Mariah Carey, Seth Rudetsky, Lisa Gay Hamilton, Olivia Thirlby, Jane Monheit and lots of other famous performers, will hold its 7th annual Chess Challenge on Sunday October 6. The tournament, which is US Chess Federation-rated, is open to grades K-12, and will be held at the specially designed Maurice Hexter Chess Center on Usdan's lush 200-acre woodland campus in the Huntington area of Long Island. It will be directed by Usdan chess instructors Brian Karen and Joel Salman. Usdan believes there is a direct link between the creative processes of artists and chess, and has a growing chess program.
