I'm shocked no one else has posted this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1gzM9SO9yU

Well...I mean it's pretty new...but still....I just about died of excitement when I saw this. I simply cannot wait.

It has been posted and discussed at length.

I do hope it comes to Broadway, eventually.

I saw the earlier production in Germany. It was good. Not great, but good. Needed work and from D23, it seems that they may have given it the love it needed.

Yes Patti LuPone is going on tour. Even I think it's tacky to refer to her like that.

The video has been discussed but yeah, it's exciting that this might actually be happening sooner than later. At first I didn't like the song but I am warming up to it. It does however have a striking resemblance to "No good Deed".

If I say it louder, maybe Disney will hear me:

YOU HAVE A GEM. THE ONLY CHANGES THAT NEED TO BE MADE TO LAPINE'S SCRIPT ARE RESTORING "THE COURT OF MIRACLES," AND LETTING ESMERALDA LIVE. EVERYTHING ELSE IS PERFECT. PERFECT, I SAY.

Is weird that I actually like Esmeralda dying? I feel like it fits the mood of the show better. I know disney will probably change it just because it's disney but it makes the finale so powerful. So no changes to the Lapine script (except court of miracles) haha.

They didn't take it to America because it was too dark. Letting Esmeralda live is a key change that would get it produced, and is one of the most likely changes to be made. I see it as a small price to pay for getting the rest intact.

That's been the musical theatre enthusiast meme. It's more likely that they didn't take it to America because the show was literally too dark, which had everything to do with the design than the script. If families can handle the death of Mufasa and the subsequent mourning scene as well as Lion King's other dark elements, then they could handle the death of Esmerelda. But I don't think for a moment audiences anywhere else would have warmed up to the projections-on-blocks design. It was the set and staging that was dark, cold, dull and dreary. It had nothing to do with the book.

I wonder how they will interpret the gargoyles for this production. I think " A guy like You" could work, if it's put in the right place.

I really think the gargoyles worked from what I saw of the Berlin production. There was a youtube video of the entire show that was available for a brief amount of time and they certainly toned down the silly comedy, making them more different parts of Quasimodo's personality.

I volunteer to design new sets! (I already have them all drawn out and everything)

It had nothing to do with the book.

Well, considering the first thing I ever heard was that Craig Lucas was going to re-fashion the book, and the latest announcements also suggest a new one by another guy (Peter something) with some new score material as well, I think the book had something to do with it.

I agree with what Mister Matt said about the darkness of the show. For the most part I didn't have a problem with the book ( loved that Esmeralda died), but the German set needs to go. Projections? Come on now. I did like that Quasi was mentally unstable but I do think they will need to scale that a bit down for Broadway. Just my 2 cents.

I actually mostly liked the German set. It needed more, but the lifts with the tops "raking" themselves was kind of cool... it just wasn't enough as it "spent" itself pretty much within the first 30 - 40 minutes of the show.

The English libretto and score have been floating around the internet for years.

They're not that hard to find.
