They're planning a cruise. No really.

I think there may be plans for special recognitions at the anniversary show too, but that suspicion is only based on the fact that most of the tickets for the orchestra and front mezz were pulled and not put on sale to the general public.

ps- that cruise idea baffles me.

The hope is to confine a portion of the Wicked fan base onto a ship and sail them to a refugee camp in Antarctica, much like the British did with convicts and Australia. If the experiment is a success, expect more and larger ships.

"Please nothing from the peanut gallery."

Oh, that's more like an invitation than anything else. It always has the opposite effect. Just FYI.

Hate Wicked. May the 10th Anni pass on without a mention!

Regardless of how anyone feels about the show (Not my favorite, but not hated, either) 10 years is a quite an accomplishment.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

For the fifth anniversary, they put on The Yellow Brick Road Not Taken, with alternate versions of and discarded songs from the first act of the show. Various Glindas and Elphabas came back for the occasion. I enjoyed that a lot. I'd love it if they'd do the same thing with songs from the second act for the tenth anniversary.

I really enjoyed that Yellow Brick Road not taken. That was a great show! I can't believe it's been five years since that!

The cruise thing is baffling yes. I don't know of any other one Broadway smash with a weeklong cruise devoted to it.

I saw WICKED soon after it opened and I really can't believe it's going to be ten years. I feel the ravages of age.

I say why not do a concert like RENT 10? But god knows Norbert can't "dance through life" anymore...much like Daphne Rubin Vega in "Out Tonight."

Regarding the cruise, anything to capitalize on the show's success.

I understood the show but it had very little in substance. It was so kiddy orientated

I know I'm in the minority here, but I actually love Wicked. Yes, I'm a (relatively) young woman, so I'm in or slightly older than the expected target audience. But I thought it was mostly funny, warm, and moving, every time I saw it. On a much deeper level, I've found a decent amount of political commentary (the song "Wonderful" for instance) and even wrote a paper for college on the various theories of feminism represented. I respect others' opinions, but I don't share them. Congrats to the show for ten years, and best of luck for the future.

Say what you will about Wicked's fans but I would rather spend 7 days on a cruise with them than 3 hours on a boat with those certifiably insane Phantom fans.

I have never been a big fan of the musical but the CD of the score has been the top selling musical CD for most of the years and I happen to like it. Ten years and still going very strong. They did something right.

I don't think the Phantom cruise will have any cast performances. From my understanding, it is like any other brunch cruise the company offers, with some cast members present and Phantom music playing throughout. Even if I considered myself a "certifiably insane Phantom fan," I'd probably pass on that one. But I'd much rather do that than crowd myself on a boat with hoards of Wicked fans for a week.

I wish they'd bring back the merchandise sold at Barnes and Noble. Granted, some of it was the same stuff you could get online/at the show, but it was a lot cheaper. And I loved collecting the journals. No, I'm not ashamed to admit that.
