Lakewood Theatre Company proudly presents BUD, NOT BUDDY, a play adapted by Reginald André Jackson, from the novel by Christopher Paul Curtis. The play was honored with the Distinguished Play Award from The American Alliance for Theatre and Education in 2010. The novel won the 2000 Newbery Medal and The Coretta Scott King Award.
Set in Michigan during the 1930s, this coming of age story chronicles the adventures of Bud Caldwell, a boy on the run from foster homes, who sets off to find his Father. Bud's colorful journey finds him on the trail of a renowned jazz band, whose leader may or may not be his real Father. Bud, Not Buddy is told from the perspective of a ten year old boy, containing large doses of humor, imagination, and heart.
The show runs August 2-18: Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm, and Sundays at 2:30 pm. Reserve through the theatre's page online at TicketsNashville.com. A limited amount of phone reservations will be taken at (615) 847-0934. Directed by Patrick and Patrice Goedicke, Produced in cooperation with Dramatic Publishing and Metro Arts. Ticket prices are $14 Adults, $10 Seniors/Students (Veterans may use the $10 Senior price on the TicketsNashville page). Walk-ins accepted according to seat availability.
