Its a shame David doesn't do Broadway anymore.

I have never been impressed with NPH's Voice so this could be an uphill battle for him.

The irony is, depending on his vocal range, this would be a great role for him. Of late, I'm increasingly beginning to see him as Hedwig in Gnosis' shadow. Granted, this is rather unfair of me and a cursory reading of events from the tabloids, but if the bra fits...

If you look at NPH's career, he can do almost anything so i don't doubt the casting choice.

I do question why some producers would revive a small cult project that won't last 3 months on Broadway.

Of course he'll do fine. Anybody who has actually seen him perform live in person in a musical knows he will do fine.

I don't question the casting. I question if this show will work in a huge Broadway theater. And who is the audience for this show?

@Namo: Says someone who's followed his career trajectory and knows that even a close reading would reveal, offbeat choices or not, this is not NPH. With a good director and some changes in the musical arrangements (the notes are too high), they might be able to massage it into something. But if they leave it as it is, this thing is going to be deader than Ken Davenport's reputation. (Look, I snuck in a joke that's as old as you!)

Yea I'm much more concerned with how this show will fare in a Broadway house than Neil's casting. I've never been a particular fan of his voice, but I think it could work well on the score, particularly Origin of Love.
I just don't know how a show like this could ever work on Broadway, no matter who was cast.

Um wha, who? This is false on too many levels... which generation exactly? He's not exactly A-list.

All my bitching aside, this casting is interesting and fun. The show is great, and I will see this. But really NPH? He's an ok singer, he's an OK host, but he isn't a rocker, his acting is ok but he's always playing himself. I just don't understand.

Okay, obviously not everyone thinks he can pull it off, but I have to say: I am SO excited by this news. Not only because it's one of my favorite shows ever, but because I think NPH will be genius in it. I've always thought of him more as a great entertainer than a great singer, and if he attacks this role with gusto, I think he could be pretty terrific. He surprised me in Assassins, and he surprised me more in Company. I'm ready for him to bring it. I'm so excited that I would be willing to pay full price for this. And I haven't done that since...2006?

I mean, I think Neil is actually good for Hedwig. But just good. I'm not amazed by this news. But I really was waiting for HIMYM to end, just so we could get that BARNUM revival, which is a much better role for him, IMO. That being said, if Anthony Rapp could play this role, I'm sure NPH can.

As far as it faring in a Broadway house, I think it will do wonderfully, especially in a smaller house.. I'd love to see it in the Booth, Circle in the Square, or the Helen Hayes.

I love Hedwig and I think Neil Patrick Harris can definitely pull off the part. I am excited to see him in the role. I bet they're hoping to get the Booth or something small like that. (The Booth would be the best venue for it.)

This show really doesn't have an audience,thats the thing. It will run for 3 months and then it will be over. It certainly won't work in a large theater.
