If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
I would see Hit List but then a few seasons later I would see the tour of Bombshell, realize how much better it is, and kick myself for the rest of my life for not seeing it with Ivy on the BroadWAY when I had the chance to choose it.
Hit List has Jimmy and a score that actually appeals to me.
Bombshell has Ivy. But there is nothing else about it that looks adequate. Even Ivy sounds jarringly unMonroe-ish when she sings - especially noticeable last night when she sounded great. To vocally portray a woman who sang, famously, in a show and sound nothing like her in song is a huge mistake.

???? So you're saying you'd rather see a musical about Marilyn with a mediocre voice actress who sounds like the real Marilyn for the sake of "accuracy" rather than one with a really good voice?
You mean like the real singing voice of Gypsy Rose Lee or in fact, her mother? Or the accuracy of Pearl Mesta's singing voice as portrayed by Ethel Merman in Call Me Madam? Gee, if you can't suspend belief enough to accept a good singer in a musical doing the role of someone who wasn't a very good singer -- I kind of feel sorry for you trying to enjoy musicals. It must be difficult.
I would love to see Bombshell on the stage! The music is wonderful and I think it would be cool to see a Marilyn musical (besides the one that was already done).
I'd see Hit List if they replaced Karen. Its cheesy premise, light alternative score, and Meatloaf music video-style direction would be a major guilty pleasure for me.
Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!
BOMBSHELL all the way!!! It has everything I like in a musical, powerful ballads, a commanding leading lady, sequins, glamour, drama and all that jazz...
I'll wait for the Hit List movie with the OBC in their thirties.
Bombshell, definitely. In fact, when they finally put this show out of its misery they should dedicate the last three episodes to a full three-act opening night performance of Bombshell. They have the entire score it seems--they just need to throw together a book to string it all together. Even if the book is as bad as, or worse than, the weekly scripts we're being subjected to, we'd still watch! And as a bonus, it would be three less shows with the oh-so-painful-to-watch Jimmy/Kyle/Karen storyline.
