Wouldn't it be preferable to put a bathtowel between the door and the floor and turn the gas on?
Yes, yes, it would.
I saw this movie when it was in the theatres, and even as a kid ... even as a kid who loved the musical movie of "Lost Horizon" ... I thought this one was bad. If you think about my tolerance for "bad" at that age, that's sayin' something.

Even Bogdonovich admitted he blew it with this one.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”
~ Muhammad Ali
Yes, they are great reads on the film. I wish that Amazon had listed the extras that are included on the blu-ray. I'm sure there is a commentary and deleted scenes, unless this version is the complete film, with no cut scenes.
I just read Drew McWeeny's review, which is the first link you provided nealb1, so it seems that what will be released on blu ray is pretty much the director's cut. Bogdonavich did some additonal work to an already existing pre-release cut...so it will definitely be the most complete version of the movie out there.
I also have to agree that this film is unfairly crapped on and I love Cybill Shepherd in it.
I am going to start making copies of our threads so when they get deleted we can see what we are talking about. I also wonder if I should start E mailing them to the powers that be to make sure they are aware of the deletions that are happening. Maybe some moderator just went rogue and needs to be disciplined. Yeah.. I think I am going to do that.
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter
I remember the original release and how much my friends and I were really looking forward to this. We saw it opening day at Radio City Music Hall and were aghast at how awful it turned out to be. The reviews were justly scathing. I still remember one that declared "Cybill Shepherd dances with bovine splendor." Yep.
It's interesting that when people stay away in droves from a film, the lies told about it become fact really quick.
