I would love for this to be worthwhile. She's one of my favorite songwriters. But who could play her?

I love the idea, but hate the title. That's never going to work.

TAPESTRY would make more sense for a title.

I agree with Tapestry--all those beautiful melodies stitched together-how wonderful.

There's already a revue of her work titled Tapestry that's been kicking around for a good number of years, so I would assume that's why they avoided using that as the title for this piece.

How about "A Natural Women" which is one of her other record album titles.

I can see it now "Locomotion" set in a subway car as she rides from Brooklyn to Manhattan and "Up on the Roof" on the roof of the Greenwich Village brownstone she lived in when she first moved to Manhattan. And I mean that in a good way.

Heard from a friend involved that Patti Murin is starring in the reading of this that's happening this week.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Still a really horrible title. I like Tapestry a lot. And your mind totally goes to King when you think of it.

Both Sides Now would also work
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

Both Sides Now is by Joni Mitchell, not Carole King.

I like Patti Murin...but I said it before and I'll say it again...Lauren Molina! (she kind of looks like King, too)

Did anyone else catch the recent PBS presentation of King receiving the Gershwin Prize at the White House? It was a great show. King performed, as did Billy Joel, James Taylor, Gloria Estefan, and others.

I think there is a lot of potential here. It just depends on the execution...and who plays Ms. King. Patti is not a good choice - Lauren Molina, as dreaming mentioned, is more inspired. But I'd keep exploring other options.

Perhaps Cassie Levy?

Please not Caissie Levy! Keep her away from this!
Laura Benanti could be good too.

Laura does not have the right voice type for this. Caissie is closer in terms of looks. I have no idea who it could be. But I guess we'll see.

Caissie Levy's voice is awful. I think Laura could do it. She has sung pop music in concert I believe.

She looks nothing like Carole, though.

Well it's called makeup and costumes. At least she can sing. I would rather gouge my ears out than listen to Caissie Levy shriek her way through Carole King's music.

I don't personally believe Caissie is the right choice, either. I think you got much closer to it with the Lauren Molina suggestion. Either way, though, Hell No! to Patti Murin

And Tapestry is still already the title of the Carole King revue licensed by MTI.
