I never bothered to watch season 1, but now I kind of regret it. I hate starting watching shows late, so is there any chance season one will show up on Netflix?
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
If you wanted to watch it on Hulu, you'd need a Hulu plus subscription in order to see the whole season (a subscription that I feel isn't worth it at all.) The show is available on Netflix but not to stream only via DVDs.
"If you try to shag my husband while I am still alive, I will shove the art of motorcycle maintenance up your rancid little Cu**. That's a good dear"
Tom Stoppard's Rock N Roll
I'd just like a Blu-Ray release. I've only seen it on DVD at stores and online. What gives? It was presented in 1080p when airing. I'd like the home media to reflect that.
I have both Season 1 and 2 on dvd. The two characters that I didn't like much were Michael Swift and that annoying Ellis.
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
They did the demographics for the show and it was basically rich people in Manhattan. I thought it was entertaining and perfect for people who love theater. But, with so much drama behind the scenes, including Will Chase leaving his wife for Debra Messing, and then it being moved to the death slot on Saturdays, it was doomed.
And it's not streaming on Netflix or Hulu. I have the DVD's which I think are better quality anyways.
I loved the show and was sorry to see it go (and I'm neither rich nor in Manhattan, sadly, but I do love theater). I think it was almost ahead of its time - I wonder if it would have fared better post-Hamilton when Broadway became a bigger part of "pop culture". I'd personally love to see it try to make a comeback in some way - and ideally primarily with Broadway actors vs the combo they had.
Revisiting this VERY OLD thread, but according to CB this morning, Smash is coming to Netflix? Any more info? Fast forward to 4:25 in the interview...

The fact that something from 2013 is now considered old is fascinating to me...good grief so much can happen in four years in the current era we live in.
And Nycat63- I actually was wondering the same. Lin makes a cameo so that could have helped as well.

"i didn't even remember Lin making an appearance! I need to get the DVDs and rewatch - I've been wanting to rewatch the show anyway. I do think the timing could have made all the difference. I feel like the creators were trying to capitalize on Idol's success in casting Katherine McPhee (please no more of her) and putting in a Broadway context was almost random at the time. Now, post-Hamilton, DEH, etc., musical theater has become a larger part of the country's vernacular, as well as the vernacular of the younger demographic, so perhaps a show built around how a Broadway production comes together, the lives of "theater people", etc., would be of greater appeal (obviously they'd have to fictionalize it quite a bit for entertainment value, just like legal and medical dramas that in now way accurately reflect those professions), but people might tune in.
Don't know when this happened since I have been looking for a way to rewatch this show for free (or on Netflix since I already pay for that) forever - but both seasons of Smash just popped up on the NBC app. So I'm sick on the 4th and settling in to binge watch Smash on my Roku free of charge!!!
Do you mean it's on amazing prime streaming? Or do you mean like buying the episodes? I tried looking for smash on prime streaming, but nothing shows up.

No, it's not on Prime (though it was at one time). Each season is $25 for unlimited HD streaming.
