Nope... At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if it's Nikki Renee Daniels. Apart from Lea, those already cast give me a reaction of "well, of course. They fit that so well."
Haha, all I can say is that there is not going to be a professional recording released of the show. That's all I'm able to say. Outside of a private message.
I bet Arden will be spectacular. Nice to have him back on the New York stage for the first time in what seems like a while.
As for the believability issues, I'm very of the mind of "it's a concert". If we've had a South Pacific concert with a fifty year old Nellie and a black Emile, then we can do a Ragtime where Salonga and Arden play siblings.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
Hopefully, Arden will find time off from his ANGER MANAGEMENT schedule to do more singing and New York Theatre, where he belongs and is loved. Many of the recent BARE reviews mentioned his performance. The same could happen when PIPPIN opens.
Nikki Rene would be a great Sarah, she might become very busy with her happy "condition".
This is turning out to be an exciting cast, please Stafford, my friend, don't screw this up!
Though I doubt it will happen, Anika Noni Rose as Sarah would be an absolute dream.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
There have been a lot of folks who've expressed interest in tickets via PM, so I wanted to pass along this LivingSocial deal we're running. Hopefully this means more of you can come out to the concert. Cheers!
