I’m planning to see Virginia Woolf at the next Wednesday (2 PM) performance. But, frankly, I have no interest in seeing it unless Amy Morton and Tracy Letts are both in it. Does anyone know if either of them takes a break for the afternoon performance? I’m sure the replacements would be fine but according to the reviews, those two principals are what make this production worthwhile. Thanks so much for the info.
I doubt if either of them are out unless the absence is last minute or posted well in advance. I saw the matinee this past Saturday with the four leads. Yes, Letts' and Morton's performances are loud and showy but watching Carrie Coon's very understated and comically slow slide into drunkedness was to me, the highlight of the show. I couldn't keep my eyes off of her and still find it hard to believe it wasn't real brandy she was throwing down!
I saw the Wednesday matinee on January 9th and they were all in attendance. That's obviously not an indication of their track record as it was only one performance, but it was a positive experience for me, so I think it's safe to assume that they will be there based on what others have said as well.
Carrie Coons is a revelation. A stunning performance. She better get a Tony nod.

Thanks all for the information. Very helpful. I feel much more confident.
(I tried hard to title and phrase the question well. Who knew that the question marks would draw the wrath/ire of the regulars. So sorry. In the future I will be sure to use only one.)
Also, I don't know which day you're going. But, if you happen to go on a Wednesday you should realize that the 2 PM performance is the only one that they have that day. They don't do two shows on Wednesdays.
And, on a side note, where do these notions come about that a given cast member won't perform on a matinee? Unless the actor as an alternate, they are scheduled o do eight performances a week. Not to pick and choose which ones they want to do and which ones they don't want to do.
