Imagine if the production team of Les Mis had another 9 months to work out the kinks and rethink the weak points. "Bring Him Home" could have been rerecorded in an appropriate key for Hugh Jackman; or, in my fantasy, reshot as a duet with the Bishop looking down from above and singing about Jean Valjean. "One Day More" could have been re-shot entirely to add some badly-needed oomph to the piece. Javert could have been (fill in your choice of recast, dubbed, or whatever else you think it would have taken to salvage the performance). I'm thrilled we're hearing about Into the Woods reshoots, and anxious to hear reactions to the changes from those on the board who saw the earlier iteration. Christmas can't come soon enough.

The production team of Les Mis were obviously happy with what they had. Reshoots are mostly done to clarify story points that were not clear or are missing from the original cut. No amount of reshooting would have fixed Bring Him Home since they were determined to film the entire movie live and that was as far as Hugh's range could go.

If it's any consolation, Mockingjay comes out November 21 and has only had one teaser - and I don't even think the teaser was footage from the film. Its first trailer will be released on Monday. I'm assuming we'll get an Into the Woods teaser by the end of summer.

We only just got the poster for The Hobbit what comes out December 18th the trailer debuts next week, I expect Into the Woods will appear soon. :)

I got a response from the people at Brush Up Your Sondheim and this is what they told me: "Sorry. Disney did not want to release any info about the film - and so declined to attend as a result."

I really don't think this film is going to get much Oscar Attention. Maybe for Costumes and make-up, But I have a feeling this film won't be on the level of many other Oscar Nominated Movie musicals.

I agree. These predictions, like I said, would only be possible if this film ended up being some amazing gift to the world by Disney! Since it will probably be good, (but not as successful as a film like "Frozen") It won't have a shot at the Oscars most likely, BUT from the first part of that post, those predictions came from someone who saw the screening (or who knows people who saw the screening), so at least those can give us some insight to what the film will be like in some shape or form.

And that's very disappointing about "Brush Up Your Sondheim", I was looking forward to hearing about it.

Exactly what I was thinking. If the film is good it will probably do pretty well at the Globes. But we still haven't seen a single clip so all is up the air.

^I CAN'T comment on anything. The predictions I did make, which were the bottom half of the first post, is what I think the film could pssibly get if done right. So if every cast and crew member does/did their absolute best during and after production, what may the film get.

I can't make any judgements until I see the film, but based on the cast and crew (Colleen Atwood, Roy Helland, Dion Bebee, etc.) this film could turn out great!

And I'm very hopeful that we will get a trailer mid-this week with Gaurdians of the Gakaxy (which I think would be perfect advertising/marketing).
