After this movie, we probably won't be seeing Anna Kendrick in musical films for a while. She said that she's completely burned out by them.

^^^I think my favorite part of that article is the clip of a random high school production in which "Cinderella sings 'You Are Not Alone'".

Two days after the 2014 Oscars and one source is already making a prediction for 2015.

"Believe it or not, stars like Meryl Streep, Emma Stone and Benedict Cumberbatch are already in the 2015 Oscar race."

Be sure to look at the gallery for why this might happen.

A new video with Corden being interviewed was posted. The discussion about the film begins around 2:40. I think he'll be brilliant and December can't come soon enough.

This article is mainly about the live-action re-imagining of 'Cinderella', but some details about the movie were shown at Cinema Con.

"For Rob Marshall's musical Into the Woods, coming out on Christmas Day, they just showed head shots of the five main actors and the characters they play with Johnny Depp looking his usual odd self as his character "Wolf," wearing a hat and sporting a goatee."

I hope Johnny Depp looks more like, well, a wolf as the Wolf.

I have a quick question to anyone who can answer. When the Witch enters the Baker and his Wife's cottage and they say they have no bread, why does the Witch say "Of course you have no bread"? How the heck would she know, or have any reason to assume so?

^^ Yes because her next line is "Nothing cooking in there now is there?" While pointing to the wife's stomach.

Actually the next line is from the Baker who says, "What do you wish?" and then she says "It's not what I wish, it's what you wish. Nothing cooking in there is there?" So now I think she just said "Of course you have no bread" as in "Of course, a bad thing like that would happen" or "Of course people like you would'nt make enough bread" or something. I dunno.

I apologize in advance as I have not been following this topic but has there been any mention of original cast cameos as Rob Marshall has done in his past musical films as director (e.g., Andrea McArdle in ANNIE, Chita Rivera in CHICAGO)? Thanks!

A friend of mine was invited to a test screening last week [he lives in L.A., so that happens a lot] and he said it was terrific. He wasn't familiar with the musical at all, but wanted to tell me 'cause he knew I loved all things Sondheim. He said everyone had pleasant voices and no one felt miscast.

Spoilers ahead...kinda.....

He said that Meryl's post-transformation look is similar to Susan Sarandon's character in Enchanted except she has blue hair. I'll reserve judgement until I see it. He also said he thought she was very funny when she needed to be and really sang the heck out of her songs. The new song for the film is apparently about how the Witch believes Rapunzel will return.

Apparently, the audience favorite was Chris Pine, who he said was hysterical. He thinks he and Emily Blunt were the standouts in an already terrific cast. He sees them being the only ones who might get awards buzz. He loved Emily's "Moments in the Woods."

His only big issue was that he felt act 2 kinda dragged a bit at times. He thinks that, if any song should be cut, it should be "I Know Things Now." He mentioned something about it feeling like it was just rehashing what they'd already seen in the previous scene.

All in all, it ran just a little over 2 hours, it'll probably be PG-13 due to its dark nature, and he said that most the effects work looked finished, so there might be a trailer really soon.

Sounds like a great second-hand review. Hopefully it is as good as your friend says it is.

I've never seen a production of Into the Woods that didn't drag in the second act. So, that's understandable.

I hope so, too. He's not even into musicals that much, but he said it was pretty great. He thinks it'll end up being a big hit.

That's pretty obviously a fan-made poster with an image of Meryl from the 70s.

It made perfect sense to give the Witch a Narissa look from 'Enchanted'. Narissa had the look of many classic Disney female villains and the Evil Queen from 'Snow White' was obviously one of them.

Indie Wire is already looking at the acting categories for the 2015 Oscars. They believe that the Witch will be considered a supporting role. They think Kendrick might have a chance at a nomination in the same category and Depp is a possibility for Best Supporting Actor. But we'll wait and see.

I really don't think INTO THE WOODS is going to have the Oscar quality that many here are assuming it will have. Johnny Depp nomination for the wolf? I don't see that happening but we shall see...

There'll be no way Johnny Depp will get an Oscar nom for this. I can't picture Anna Kendrick getting nominated too. The closest person that'll get any recognition will be Meryl Streep, even though I doubt she'll get anything. If she does get nominated, it'll only be because of her name, IMO.

This is starting to feel like a big gamble to me. Why no trailer yet? I'm sure we'll get it with the Maleficent release on Friday, but still.
