Let's be honest. Zac Efron is cute as a button, but an amazing actor he is not. He's never really done much for me. We might be able to play one of the princes, but I've never found him that funny and the princes should be funny.

I know people want Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway to stay away from this film, but both of them would like to do more movie musicals. Who knows. Maybe they do have their eyes on this project and it would be nice to see Anne and Meryl reunite.

Jackman is completely wrong for the Baker. He doesn't need to be involved in this, neither does Hathaway. If anything, I wonder if Samantha Barks is now being considered for Cinderella, but part of me also imagines that Marshall might just not want to hire anyone involved in LES MIS to avoid any connections/comparisons. I do wish they'd announce some cast members already!

Also, didn't Amy Adams play the Baker's Wife recently (I have been away from the Broadway Scene for a while)? How was she? If she was good in the role, I would think she would have a great chance of getting cast. She's famous right?

Amy Adams is definitely A list, if not A-.

I love her but I don't know if she's right for the part. Her voice was nice in Enchanted, but I wouldn't say it was great.

I have to agree. I didn't like Amy Adams that much in the role. She didn't completely embarrass herself, but she didn't land most of the laughs. Maybe she'd be better with more rehearsal time and the use of multiple takes on film, but I'm not wild about her being in the film. I usually like her, too, but she really is more of a Cinderella type.

I felt the same way. It all seemed like it should have worked and yet, it didn't. It wasn't as a big a disaster as the 2002 revival, but it did nothing for me.

I'm just grateful we'll always have the OBC. No matter how many times they re-write, re-structure, or miscast the show, there will always be that to come back to. I wish more shows had that.

I am soooo excited for this movie! ITW is one of my favorite musicals! I was Jack's Mother in it. Allison Janney is going to be GREAT in that part! I heard Nina Arianda is going to be the Baker's Wife but I think it should be Amy Adams. I saw her in the 2012 revival and she was really good. I think Anna Camp would be a really good stepsister too but as of now the sisters are Tammy Blanchard & Megan Hilty who I'm sure will also be great.

Adams seemed like a good choice, she's very versatile and can be funny but it seems like most critics (both here and on the national papers) thought she was miscast. I've said on this thread and every other INTO THE WOOD movie thread that in my opinion the role needs to be cast with someone who's ridiculously funny but who has the range to pull off the no no-sense quality of the role and her frustration with the life she has with the Baker (is she basically what happens to Dot after getting married to Louis the baker?). That's why the likes of Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig should be at the top of their list over typical Hollywood starlets.

I think I mentioned this on another thread, or possibly earlier in this thread, but I think Nicole Parker would be perfect as the Baker's Wife.

Madbrian, Parker might be good in a high profile theatre production either in NY or elsewhere. Honestly, I've only seen her in THE PEOPLE IN THE PICTURE and she was one of the weak links (in a production where only Donna Murphy--who'd have been a great Baker's Wife herself around the time of the original production--came out relatively unscathed, so I assume that's hardly her best work). I thought she was hilarious in the LES MIS spoof she did recently, so I get where you're coming from. I assume that for this film they'll want some major stars in the principal roles, I'd love the idea of Nina Arianda of course, but I imagine she'll get passed over for bigger stars.
