I was disappointed with her tamed vocal performance in the film, but was outraged with her performance at the Oscars. Eponine is supposed to belt the hell out of that score, why would they think not having a character belting makes it more believable?!!

Regarding Samantha Mumba, if it really is a "million dollar movie deal," this isn't a small featured role in Into the Woods.

She's doing the Grace Farrell part in Annie, I'll bet.

First of all, to everyone who says that streep is not cut out for the role, no. Meryl Streep can play any role and pull it off. If its range you're worried about, theres always transposition.

Also, I personally don't like Johnny Depp, so I'm not too thrilled about him being casted

that casting call looks like it's confirming James Corden as the Baker. Wonder if they are going to cast the Baker's Wife the same way or still try for a big name

but if they're going for james corden as the baker (love it), she might be too conventionally beautiful, unless they find a new spin on the tired beautiful-woman-with-schlubby-guy trope. i'd like to see him matched with someone quirkier, maybe.

Q: You had the chance to perform on stage with your cast mates. What was that experience like?

Kerry Washington: I come from musical theatre, so it was really fun for me to have the opportunity to that again.

so, who knows if anyone's actually considering her, but she certainly seems qualified. she's not an a-lister but she's been having a great year, it's not out of the question.

i said quirky, not adorkable! but i meant along the lines of toni collette. though i don't know if i see them together either...

I also find a Washington/Cordon coupling a bit off. Winslet and he might be terrific together. Although I think of Corden being quite young, he's actually just a couple years younger than Kate. While Collette seems the perfect choice for the role in and of itself, my imagination - for what it's worth - says Winslet goes best with Corden, and I think she could be great in the role.

He'd also blend well with Rachel Weisz, who could also do great things with the part, but, as far as I know, doesn't really sing.
