I still don't see any reason why Jack and his mother can't be "non-white" roles ... African American, Asian, Latino ...

bring it!

She's not as "ethnic," for lack of a better term, as other Latina actresses, but Conchata Ferrell would be pretty good as Jack's Mother.

Just don't put her in the Flying Nun wimple. For whatever reason I loathe that hat with a passion.

Donald Glover would be a good Jack.

Samantha Mumba has signed to a big Hollywood musical apparently, starts shooting in autumn. I can only think of Into The Woods or Annie

I don't think there are any other big-scale (like Les Mis) musicals shooting in the fall except Into the Woods and Annie.

Maybe Grace Farrell or a stepsister? (She's a little old for stepsister though, but if Jamie Foxx is playing the Warbucks role, she would be a good fit opposite him as Grace. She could also be playing the Lily St. Regis role.)

YES to Donald Glover. He's the only person who could play both the actually-young Jack and the mentally-handicapped adult Jack simultaneously, because his biggest skill is slightly damaged man-child roles.

Matter of fact, would it be too meta to get Yvette Nicole Brown as Jack's Mother along with him?

If they were to cast Donald Glover, I'd love to see Octavia Spencer play Jack's Mother.

EDIT: Of course he's really too old, and she's too young ... but still.

I think Jack will probably be played by an actual 14 or 15-year-old.

What about Vanessa Hudgens as Cinderella?

The mere thought of her reuniting with Zac for a Disney musical gets me excited.

I was hoping for Susan Boyle as Jack's mother.

The only role I see them paying a million for is Grace in Annie. And even that seems a bit high for that role.

Casting Vanessa Hudgens as Cinderella would be atrocious, girl can't act, let alone hold her own opposite the talent involved. Zac Efron is wooden enough for one of the princes, but he isn't good enough of an actor to pull off anything that happens in Act II.

Well the girl is not a brilliant actress, but she's not a bad one either.

Zac is amazing, perfect in every way.

I'll bet the princes end up being Matthew Morrison and Patrick Wilson.

all that jazz, go listen to the high school musical soundtrack again. You can tell that about half of Vanessa Hudgens's notes had to be auto tuned. She doesn't have the voice or any of these roles.

I'm still holding out hope for Aaron Tveit as Cinderella's Prince.

Patrick is fine. Matt doesn't do so well in close-up. Some of those Glee close-ups have him looking pretty fugly. And not in an Eddie Redmayne fugly way.

They are going to have to shoot him using the Lucille Ball Maimed camera style to cover up some of those wrinkles.

Kieranbec, I know she's probably not the best actress for the role and I don't expect her to get cast, it was just a fun suggestion.

I think Matt is very talented and should have no problem singing or acting the role, the only thing he's lacking is the looks.

She's not my first choice, but I think Sam Barks could work as Cinderella.

No Matthew Morrison, please. Patrick Wilson would be ideal but I wonder if he's too old for Cinderella's Prince, he'd have been an interesting Wolf, if not as wacky a choice as Depp.
I don't know how to explain it, but while I thought Samantha Barks brought much needed vocal skill and enjoyed her performance in LES MIS, there isn't a single role I can think of off the top of my head that she'd be my first choice for. She's more someone I wouldn't mind seeing rather than someone I want to see.

Samantha Barks was so meh as Eponine, she did the most minimally serviceable job in the world in Les Mis

I was disappointed with her tamed vocal performance in the film, but was outraged with her performance at the Oscars. Eponine is supposed to belt the hell out of that score, why would they think not having a character belting makes it more believable?!!
