I went to a free screening last night and i really LOVED her performance. I am going to go waaaaaaaaay out on a limb here, but her performance was definitely award worthy. The movie itself is cute and predictable.
We saw it over the weekend and had a great time. She is really funny in it. However...I don't agree with the comment someone made here that it is award worthy. It isn't. And the studio is not pushing it as that either. Not everything released at this time of the year is meant as such.
Well her trend with all the other concerts has been to air a slightly edited version on TV either thru HBO or a network and then release the entire thing on DVD a few weeks later. I am thinking probably around holiday time next year. Defenitely not till the Eurpean leg of the tour is done ( which has not even been officially announced yet).
Nicholas.. I did not hear it from anywhere official. Just talk. Also from her directors public FB page. He did not actually say it.. but it was more than implied when he was talking about working with Chris Botti and Ill Volo and said something to the effect off "to be continued real soon" And it is also her usual route.
I was at the LA screening yesterday, with Barbra & Seth doing the live q&a right there in the theatre. It was very exciting. I saw the film in Feb at a test screening, and the opening of the film is different. And, a few other scenes were trimmed or cut out. I'm sure it will come out on the dvd.
I'm sure Barbra will be nominated for a Golden Globe since there are the 2 categories.
When I was at both Brooklyn concerts, I asked the cameraman when the dvd was coming out, and he said in March. But, that could all change. The live cd will probably be from The Hollywood Bowl.
Neal you were there? We were there. Had a fun enough time. I don't know why but it reminded me of all those old "Oh God" movies. Very entertaining and good enough to watch on a airplane. My question did not get asked.
Hey Dame. Yes, I was there. So sorry I didn't know you would be there. Otherwise we could have finally met up.
I got there rather early at 10:15am or so. There were a few people in line all ready. I was able to pass the time by chatting to 2 very nice guys in front of me while waiting. Once we all entered the theatre, they sat in the row right in front of me. After the movie was over with, I was chatting with a friend of mine who I didn't would be there, so I wasn't able to say good bye to the 2 very nice guys. They came from Long Beach.
