Your opinion is shared by many., SNAFU. In the case of Honey booboo, I personally feel the producers have shown us some admirable qualities of this family and changed some viewers' minds for the better, rather than exploiting the family.

Normally when I read peoples' opinions on reality shows, it's mostly in negative and ridiculing tones for which I blame the producers but with Honey booboo most of the what I'm reading is from fans who love the kid.

I love Honey Boo Boo. To me, she is pretty much a typical sassy Southern little kid.

I was a little bummed to read this, though, and see that she did not want pictures taken of her. I understand that it can be invasive, and she is just seven years old, but the article presents her to be so cold about it. While I have eaten at that restaurant many times (unless there was already a big party, that's not the best place to seat that many and they know it), there has to be an expectation that when you go out to eat or go to the local mall as a recognizable family, there will be attention. Should she spend an hour taking pictures in the middle of a restaurant or in front of a store? Not so much, but it should be a little more welcomed.

Jane,I am actually sorry for Honey Boo Boo. In a year or two she will no longer be a precousious 7 year old. Will no longer be CHILDREN"S Beauty Pagaent material. Her 15 minutes will have expired. I am sure there will be quite a few problems due to this. Look at all thechildhood actors who ran into problems after early fame. They had a skill and talent other then just sparkling on the runway and being sassy.

I completely understand your point, SNAFU. I guess you could say the same thing about too many reality "stars" to mention here. Is the end of the 15 minutes of fame definitely the beginning of the end of one's life?

I don't know. And who is to blame for it if it is? The producers who keep making these shows (because they're nice and cheap), or the people who agree to be on them? Both, I guess.

Anyway, to tie this all up- All the repercussions notwithstanding, I like the kid.

She got the top award in the pageant they aired on last night's show.

Probably rigged. I mean, it was called the "People's Choice Award". It's like that one episode of Toddlers and Tiaras, when this one girl got a supreme title because she had the most ad space in the program.

I think all those pageants are rigged. The same kid wins every time. Even kids who throw tantrums on the stage and have to be carried off leave the place with top honors. The parents probably pay an awful lot.

Some people have said being a child reality TV star is no worse than being a child actor. I don't buy that--you aren't (as much) building a career on your image.

If kids grow up wanting to be reality show stars like they do to be movie stars, I will weep for them.
