Is that a "unibang"? Or would it just be called a "bang"? Would "bangs" also be correct because it refers to the multiple locks of hair that are greased together?
But in all seriousness:
Lots of talent this season. Also lots of crazies. Looking forward to seeing the meltdowns and the miracles!
"I know now that theatre saved my life." - Susan Stroman
I agree that this is a strong bunch, but Gunnar needs to shape up or ship out. 5 minutes into the episode I was DONE!
"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it." -Stephen Colbert
I am LOVING Buffi. She's like a mix of Lady Gaga and Adele and I loved her on the "Road to the Runway." I'm also liking Ven, Christopher, Melissa, and Kooan. I'm SO SICK of Gunner. I spent most of the night wanting to punch him.
"I saw Pavarotti play Rodolfo on stage and with his girth I thought he was about to eat the whole table at the Cafe Momus." - Dollypop
I have yet to like a single one of the Christian Siriano wannabes that have been featured in every season since his. Christian was the only one who actually had the talent to back up his personality and ego. The others, including this season's Gunnar, are big on the go and "personality" but have all fallen short on the talent, which just makes them insufferable.
I always find it hard to pick a favorite this early on, but I did like the girl who was in the top three. But once again the disconnect between the judges' comments and the actual winners continues to mystify me. They all seemed to love both her designs and had no real negatives at all, and yet the winner one on the strength of his pre-made design, even though the dress that was actually part of the challenge had a lot of fit and construction issues and they all wished it hadn't been done in black. I guess it just shows just how much power the producers actually have over the limited amount the judges have.
Last week was really interesting, but so much drama, again. I think the most interesting part though was reading the blogs on Lifetime's website afterwards, specifically Laura Bennett's, which shed some light on just how much can be left on the editing room floor.
I had a hard time deciding which was my favorite last week, because I pretty much hated them all. I think the closest that worked for me was the gold dress that was made for Valerie, but I hated the styling, and it just wound up safe. The cocktail dress for Kenley was totally her, but absolutely wrong for the Emmy awards red carpet.
I'm just not feeling any of the talent yet this season. Hopefully somebody starts wowing me soon.
"2) It's Kenley, not Nicole Kidman and it is EXACTLY what she would choose for herself for any red carpet ever"
To be fair, according to Laura's blog post, that is exactly what Kenley did.
"But craziest of all, Kenley took complete credit for the dress that Ven and Fabio designed and made. She demanded the silhouette. She showed them the length. She instructed them to buy Navy blue silk gazar. I haven’t see a lot of Ven’s work, but I’ve seen quite a bit of Kenley’s and I am pretty sure he doesn’t need her help. I’m just going to say that the editing was kind to her. And that if she had been on my season there would have been a murder in the workroom."
I won't say that it shouldn't have won, it was indeed the best representation of their client, and the construction and styling were great (it was nice to see them take that primary red off of her lips that she seems to love to use to highlight how big and loud her mouth is), I just didn't feel it was a red carpet dress.
Sadly I don't have cable so I have to wait until tomorrow, but I'm with you Jordan, please, please, PLEASE God let Gunnar go home tonight. I'd be willing to go find a Chik-Fil-A and buy two sandwiches if you can make this happen; please, God?
Tonight's episode: "In the wake of one contender's startling departure, the designers must...." blah, blah, blah. I guess we'll be starting with some intrigue.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
Oh, these shows are soooo scripted now, but, hey, I like it anyway. Looking forward to VEN tonight. That candy dress from last week was freaking stunning! He's the most talented so far imho.
1. I also don't love anyone's designs this season yet. 2. I thought Kenley's dress would have looked at home on the set of Far From Heaven. 3. They might purposely keep Gunnar on because he's so obnoxious. Otherwise, where is any drama this season?
Drama-rama with the unexpected departures! Anyway, great work on this episode. Loved the three who were clearly the judge's favorites: Dmitry, Chirstopher and Sonjia.
I wasn't as much of a fan of Christopher's dress (nice dress, but not for the challenge), but Sonja was totally on my radar from the first episode, and Dimitry's work was stunning.
