Sorry for starting a new thread.. Couldn't find the old one. Does anybody know if the Tornto production of The Wizard Of Oz has been cast yet and is it a tryout for Broadway or rather a sit down production like The Sound Of Music and Rock Of Ages? If it ever made it to Broadway, Emily Skinner could make a killer witch.

Between the lengthy discussions about who should do Into the Woods and who should play Elphaba next, I think this board could easily come up with a long list of potential witches!
Also, aren't they doing the TV show to cast Dorothy?
The show is already cast with the obvious exception of Dorothy (being cast through the tv show). The Toronto production will turn into the Troika tour in late 2013.
Like in London, there will be an "Over the Rainbow" competition series. In June they selected 100 Dorothys from all over Canada and narrowed it down to the Top 20. The Top 20 Dorothys will be having a summer intensive, and it will be decided which 10 will go on to the TV competition series beginning in September. The show will open sometime in December.
I'm Canadian and know people who auditioned/made it in the top 100.
They had a float in the Toronto Pride Parade showing off some of the Dorothys.
Coach Bob knew it all along: you've got to get obsessed and stay obsessed. You have to keep passing the open windows. (John Irving, The Hotel New Hampshire)
It's also listed i believe to go into the former Pantages, which i thought a strange choice since they have a rather shallow stage, maybe they will adapt the set to me more of a 'touring' set

And yes the show is being significantly redesigned to be tour-able. There will also not be any children in the cast (ie. adult ensemble are the Munchkins).
I hope those casting rumors are true. Lisa Horner would be fantastic as the Wicked Witch. I have seen her in MMLJWW, Love Loss and What I Wore and Assassins and she always steals the show
