The most obvious one for me in recent memory was The People in the Picture.

@Finch... You said Shogon was boring (Never made it out of DC) ~ It actually did play Broadway. And it was famous for all the firings and replacements. And the fact that Phillip Casnoff was knocked out by scenery.

"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."

A couple of years ago, I saw a musical adaptation of THE REMAINS OF THE DAY in a tiny theatre here in London. Oh dear, it was dull.

Otherwise... maybe DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN (which WAS boring, being completely incomprehensible in a very mundane way) and THRILL ME (repetitive beyond belief, musically and narratively).

We don't often get "boring" musicals in London. We get bad ones, but not often boring ones!

Correct, it did play for a few months on Bway. It was also noted for amazing scenery, some of the most inventive I've ever seen, and costumes. It also had a wonderful leading lady in June Angela. Francis Ruivivar was also very good.

And, it still managed to be long and boring.

I immediately thought of the Roundabout revival of Sunday in the Park with George before reading this thread. I was surprised how bored I was by the current Evita. One that hasn't been mentioned that I thought was boring is Passing Strange.

I know a lot of people here will take exception, but I found Side Show to be utterly boring. My interest was only piqued at the end of the show, when some people leapt to their feet with tears rolling down their faces, while the rest of us seemed to have been awakened from a nap.

I can't listen to "I Will Never Leave You" from Sideshow. I burst out laughing every time. I will never leave you? Your flickin' Siamese Twins! It's like one of those two-faced kittens singing, "I can't stop gazing into those eyes" to itself.

I do struggle to get through Sunday in the Park With George after Putting It Together until the Finale. The last production I saw was the Ravinia Concert, which was something of a train wreck. Oddly staged and underrehearsed. Audra kept the evening from being a total bust.

I see why people think Sunday In The Park is boring, but it makes me so sad to see so many people say it! It's probably my favorite, personally. Ah well, to each their own.

Also a boring musical that I don't remember if it was mentioned - Godspell. Just couldn't get into that one.

Les Miserables - 25th anniversary tour.

When everything 'new' is inferior to the 'old' and the new consists of self-congratulatory bombast and pretentious attempts to go from er...unsuccessful "1985 musical" to Modern Grand, Acoustic Orchestrated, Prestigious OPERA Of Our Time, with a Valjean that sounds better suited for Italian Opera and...

..tacky Star Wars Cosette logo.

At the end of the day, the deal breaker for me was the chucking of its gorgeous, complex, sumptuous, dark, dirty cry from the gutter...its John Cameron orchestration. Its voice.

Recreation of original John Cameron orchestration to "On My Own" by yours truly. Click player below to hear.

The DVD version of LOVE NEVER DIES is quite the snooze-fest. Glad PBS showed it for free!

I do believe Stephen Sondheim is God, but Passion and Pacific Overtures are so very boring to me. I have both on DVD and can't make it through either one.

youth has nothing to do with not appreciating Follies. Lack of intelligence does. There's nothing about anyone can't relate to if they have an ounce of depth.
