I do hope Idina does get to sing at the Oscars, assuming "Let It Go" and other songs are nominated, because I like it when Disney is able to get the actors to sing in their movies to preform at the Oscars (just my personal preference).

Maelstorm at EPCOT should be amazing--I thought a few parts came close, but it was a missed opportunity done on the cheap (keep in mind I haven't been on it since I was a teen...)

That said (and I know this is off topic) I hate how Disney has gotten so far away from their original theme park concepts. ie Disney characters would stay in the Magic Kingdom (I guess the fact that they would stay in Fantasyland specifically changed shortly after Walt's death so is long gone.) At the same time, I can't fault the execs for wanting to attract more visitors to the other parks with their franchises, and it's true that for a good chunk of the 70s and 80s, while they came up with a few great attractions (and I kinda dug the original World's Fair/edutainment EPCOT,) they went through a period with few movies to exploit and some diminishing concepts for non movie based rides.

@Delongpre

I totally agree. Elsa is basically Disney's version of Elphaba. Here are just some of the similarities:

-Both of their names start with an 'EL' and ends with an "A". (Elsa / Elphaba)
-Both are socially isolated and repressive teenagers
-Both are terrified of hurting the ones they love.
-Both are misunderstood older sisters.
-Both are looked at as villains (evil witches) in the beginning because of their uncontrollable powers and because of the manipulation of others.
-Both runaway and hide in a castle.
-Both of their stories are eventually a celebration of empowerment
-Let it Go and Defying Gravity are their turning point songs that are very similar.
-Both characters say similar things

Elsa: "Yes, I'm alone, but I'm alone and free."
Elphaba: "And if I'm flying solo, at least I'm flying free!"

Elsa: It's time to see what I can do. To test the limits and break through
Elphaba: I'm through accepting limits 'cause someone else says they're so...It's time to try Defying gravity

Elsa: No right, no wrong, no rules for me, I'm free!
Elphaba: I'm through with playing by the rules of someone else's game. It's time to trust my instincts, close my eyes and leap!

Elsa: Here I stand and here I'll stay
Elphaba: I'm defying gravity and you can't pull me down

-And of course...Both characters were performed by Idina Menzel

Over the past few months, the film has had very strong legs. Disney has a lot to be proud of.

When they do a Disney Dream Portrait for this film, my choices for Anna and Elsa would be Emma Watson and Jennifer Lawrence respectively.

broadwayfever: fun video; I'm still waiting for a video that does the type of mashup where they do parts from each song, but the video with clips from Frozen with Defying Gravity playing is fun too.

I'm glad that Frozen is still in the money. It deserves it's success after Disney's been so down in the 2000's.

I just saw this yesterday for the first time. It was wonderful. I loved that it was a movie about princesses, but they were strong characters. Well, for Disney anyway. I guess my point is that falling in love with a prince or being rescued by one was not the main plot or point of the story. Not, putting those movies down at all because I love them. I thought it was visually stunning too. I did not see it in 3D and thought it was enough. I actually think for me, the 3D effects would have been too much.

For those who saw Idina's performance, what did you think of the background set? As a concept, do you think it would work for Elsa's ice castle when they do the show? What you do you they might do differently for it? Crystals would be expensive though, so I don't see them using real ones.

Sabrina Aloueche is perfect for that role.

I am familiar with Sabrina, she is a former Eponine in the London production of "Les Miserables" and I have liked what I have heard of her before. From that video, I'd think, both her and the other girl are potentials for those roles in the musical production, depending on when it happens.

It's highest grossing animated movie if the figures are unadjusted for inflation.

Adjusted, the #1 animated movie is Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. The #1 animated movie with only one release is Shrek 2.

Looks like MTI could be working on Frozen JR. right now.

From Facebook:
"Frozen is the highest-grossing animated movie of all time! This means great things for the Broadway show already in the works...and perhaps for a FROZEN JR!"
