That surprises me. I feel like they would need more wing space for the horses.

I think Warhorse would feel different on a proscenium stage. I loved the staging at the Beaumont. You felt like a part of the action.

not sure why they would take a larger theater since they haven't been filling the Beaumont lately. they're looking at a theater with 300 extra seats to fill each for each performance.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

They can easily close off the balcony though, right? They've done that before at that theater for some shows.

For what it's worth, War Horse is playing in Toronto on a proscenium stage. And, the production has gotten great write ups and word of mouth. So, clearly, it is adaptable.

I can see this working on a proscenium. And the move to Times Square from Lincoln Center may help fill those extra seats.

Not coming to the St. James... another Jujamcyn house. Take a guess.

Wasn't it originally staged on a proscenium stage at the National anyway? Sure, they made it look gorgeous on the thrust at the Beaumont, but as shown at the National and in the Toronto/tour version, it can be great on a proscenium stage as well.

I am not sure about the staging at The National, But, I do know that the staging at The New London is a thrust stage.

Well, either way, it will be playing proscenium stages when it's out on tour. Deal with it.

I don't know why they are trying to keep it going, but I suppose it must be making money? I mean, the movie did nothing to help its ticket sales. I think it needs a new logo/design. The one at Lincoln Center makes it look so dated.

Also, I think it's kind of amusing that no one wanted the St. James to sit empty all summer, and yet....it is...

Roadmixer, so you think it's going to take the Hirschfeld (which has roughly 300 more seats than the St. James)? The only other option is waiting out Clybourne and taking the Kerr

No way it could fit in the Kerr. And the Hirschfeld has 1424 seats compared to the St. James' 1709.

Ah, my mistake. I thought I'd heard it was a proscenium at the National. But it's definitely playing many proscenium houses across the country on tour.

The Kerr has 118 less seats than the Beaumont. It makes sense to downgrade the theater size than go up by another 300 or so, especially when you consider that the 6,412 tickets WAR HORSE sold less week would only be about an 85% capacity at the Kerr.

Seems a bit of a risk moving War Horse from the Beaumount to a bigger theatre, the National must think it has a commericial future on Broadway.

frogs_fan - Yes, the Kerr has 188 fewer seats than the Beaumont. It also has a MUCH smaller stage. There's no way it could fit a production the size of War Horse.

@Theaterguy
I completely agree there is no way War Horse could fit in the Kerr, A Little Night Music seemed like barley fit there...I mean couldn't take more than five steps forward and be at the edge of the stage. There is no way the puppets that are like ten feet long can fit on that stage. I also hate the Kerr because it is so crampt.

THe only theaters of a similar size with a stage that would be large enough for the production that I can think of would be the Schoenfeld or the Brooks Atkinson
