Nice Work I You Can Get It??? What show is that? Do you mean Nice Work If You Can Get It?? Well, let's just say this show can be wonderful or cornball awful. The score is classic and guaranteed fun. My question is why did they feel the need to incorporate another new book for a Gershwin musical?? They got it right with My One And Only in the 80's and Crazy For You in the 90's. Why didnt they just revive one of those two?? I really do like Matthew Broderick contrary to most people on this board. But after watching the promo video for this it appears that Broderick is far from thrilled about being a part of this and is actually trying to convince himself that it's a great role. As for O'hara I'm extreemely neutral. I will be going with my mom soon and shall see for myself.

Lupone, honey, if you're going to point out other people's typos you better make damn sure you don't have any of your own. Yeesh.

I love the word "Yeesh." "Sheesh," too. And starting an objection with a high-pitched "Say..."

I like old 1930s movies when they start a comment with "Say listen, ..."

I'm also a fan of "nerts" and "blecch."

As per a friend who was at the invited dress last night, she said it was a very enjoyable show and much funnier than she had expected. She said the cast seemed very engaged and having fun. I'm going tonight and am looking forward to it..

I heard the exact opposite from a colleague...apparently it was almost 3 hours, with a less then enjoyable plot and Matthew is just so miscast it makes it hard to watch. I'll be there on Saturday and to see this mess first hand.

I saw it last night at the invited dress, and while it's a little bit long (and I'm guessing they'll shave a good 20 minutes off the running time during previews), it's wonderful fun throughout. Broderick and O'Hara are delightful, Michael McGrath is like a cross between Lou Costello and Stubby Kaye, Jennifer Laura Thompson channels Madeline Kahn at her best, the script is clever, the staging is clever and funny, the song integration feels seamless (and some of the riffs they do on those Gershwin standards are fun in their own right)--plus you get to see Estelle Parsons dance. All that's missing is a young Joan Blondell. (Wait--no--that's Robyn Hurder.) If you want a one-line review? It's exactly the silly smart pointlessly entertaining musical our current Depression needs.

"Behold, the shills of tomorrow"

Now THAT was funny.

Yep, it was only a matter of time before the first shill hit the board for "Nice Work". This should turn fun.

You can't say "nerts"
You can't say "nuts"
Can't make a noise like "plbbbbbbbbbb!"

Had to get that out of my head. Carry on...

I look forward to hearing what people think. It's a pretty impressive lineup of talent on paper, I hope the show itself is good enough. I also look forward to seeing photos of Derek McLane's set, which on paper looks absolutely stunning. And eventually seeing the show too.

Anyone know how big the orchestra is/whats in it?

That Act Curtain is hideous. Why didn't they at least use the font thats being advertised on their posters?

I do not like the font choice at all either... I think it would look better without the show title.

I don't really understand the mentality behind the show title on the curtain. I mean the audience has already paid to get in, so why advertise more?
Having just the music & lyrics on the Nice Work show curtain would have been nice.

I don't understand these show curtains period. I like it the way it used to be - a front curtain - you know, theatre - Broadway. We don't need a "main title."

And re the "shill" - do these people think they're fooling anyone? Seriously, joined today to post this one and only rave.

When I left the theatre last night, I was just happy, and danced down the street to the bus stop even though I was always the comic relief in dance class. An evening of Gershwin should make anyone happy, and Ms. Marshall’s direction, the exciting choreography, and fabulous singing just put buttercream frosting on a chocolate cake. The people who put together these songs, in this order, with the snappy dialogue all around them, have serious helpings of wit. Not to mention JOY. Be happy.
