oh how i wish idina menzel was playing eva as opposed to elena roger and why ricky??? antonio banderas woulda been a much better choice imo.

Antonio's too old. But I think Idina could have pulled this off. She has striking features like LuPone did, and would be able to sing the **** out of it.

Antonio Banderas is too old? How? It's an Everyman. There's no reason he can't look to be in his 50's.

He's just too old. He shouldn't be in his 50s. That's ancient playing Che. Regardless of whether it's an everyman or not. He should be in his early 20s. Martin's all wrong for the part too.

Lovely to have an Argentinian actress playing Eva. I agree.

But Elena, like 25,000,000 other Argentinians actually IS Italian.
Idina is not.

On a different note, Idina like hundreds of thousands of Argentinians, is Jewish. I'm not sure how a Jewish Eva would go over in Argentina. It's kind of like having a Jew playing Hitler.... kind of like Dick Shawn playing an actor playing Hitler in The Producers.

By the way, Eva Peron's heritage was Basque.

Anyone know any Basque Argentinian mezzos?

I'm quite curious about Ricardo as Che, (not Ricky Ricardo). He has the fire and if he can sing it (which Banderas could never do live) he might be really good. Can we get a shirtless/worker kind of look in some scenes?
