Sorry for all the OACD posting buuuuuuuuuuuut I'm wondering if Jessie Mueller ever comes out the stagedoor. I saw the show in previews and she didn't come out.

I saw the show a few days after Xmas and she didn't come out. I have heard of times when she does come out.... so i guess it's a hit or a miss.

If i was worried about getting Jessie Mueller's sig on my playbill and was considering trying to leave the playbill with the stagedoor security people to hopefully have her sign it, should I, leave the playbill with a note and return the next day to retrieve it. OR leave the playbill with a SASE. IDK guys I've never done this before but I really want her sig on my playbill!

About 85% of the cast comes out the lobby doors or the Jujamcin door (under the little awning) just to the left of the theater. Only a few people including Harry leave via the stage door. If you try before the show, I've been told they are split up - half go in via the Jujamcin door and the other half buzz in at the stage door.

I figured that's where she left from but I'm a little uncomfortable with stopping anyone sneaking out another door. I feel like they use those doors on purpose to avoid dealing with people like me. ya know.... but I still want her to sign my playbill!

Does she ever come out to the Waitress Stage door? I've seen Waitress 5 times and went to the stage door one more time and she never came out. I saw her leave the theater using a different door and waived at her but she didn't wave back even though she saw me. In fact, she yelled at her driver saying he has to be ready to leave as soon as she comes out. I was sad. I understand she doesn't have the time and doesn't owe anything to the people at the stage door, but I still made me sad.

Huh, I didn't realize she didn't SD regularly. I saw Waitress in late previews and everybody came out to sign, including Jessie, and they were all really lovely. I didn't ask for it, but I saw her take photos with quite a few people, too.

I went a couple weeks ago, and she didn't come out. Disappointing, but understandable. Her performance was more than enough, and is all we are promised with the ticket.

Saw the show on Tony weekend and she didn't come out. Went back to the stage door a week later and she came out. Not sure if she's been coming out ever since.

That sounds...untrue. In my experience, anyway. Also, I wouldn't blame her if she did pull a Jekyll/Hyde with some of the behavior I've seen. 

 

Saw age the show last week and she didn't come out, but she had been coughing quite a bit during the show. The performance also had a technical difficulty and ran almost 30 minutes late.

You are right when you say they seem to be avoiding you. The reason for that is your post sounds a bit like a stalker. She performed in the show and that is all she owes you. You have no right to follow her around until she signs your stupid Playbill. The problem is that once it is signed and you have it what do you than do with it? You have it for life and you look at it or save it in a ziplock bag and store it away . At some point in time, you will regretfully get old. What good would the signed Playbill do for you than? I understand it if you are a kid but if you are an adult I do not see the obsessive need to  lay in wait for a performer to get their signature on a Playbill.

Disney, please do not let one person's observations from afar make you stop being a fan of Jessie Mueller. No one, including the person who saw the interaction (who I am not calling a liar) knows exactly what the conversation was or the circumstances surrounding it. Jessie is universally regarded as a kind person and not diva-like at all.

What makes you think stage door was included in the ticket you bought even if you paid top price? The often insane and whiny crowd with groupies like OP makes a stage door experience Sweeney Todd without Sondheim.

From what I've seen, the car waits directly in front of the main theater doors. Security says she is hit or miss but its pretty much always a miss. I've heard she signed a few times during previews.

I don't believe anyone is obligated to stage door. 

That said, I do believe it should be clear if they don't plan on doing the stage door. 

If Miss Mueller wants to go straight into her car, that is fine and her prerogative. Just tell people she has no intention of coming out.

For the record, I am an adult who doesn't stage door at all. I do go to the stage door with my daughter, who truly cares about all of these people. I saw Jessie leave the theater because I was standing by the theater's lobby entrance waiting for my daughter and not by the stage door. I do not believe that any of them are obligated to sign anything. They do it to show appreciation for their fans, if they feel inclined to do so. However, I saw what I saw and it was disheartening, and it would be more disheartening for my daughter, who adores her (and I have not mentioned this to).  I posted because I was a little disappointed at the interaction I witnessed and was just wondering after seeing said interaction and watching the show 5 times if it would be worth taking my daughter to the stage door again just because she really wants a Jessie signed playbill.

I have no experience with this but I'm guessing if your daughter sent a letter to Ms Mueller at the theatre and included that she'd love a signed Playbill she would send one back, especially if you included a SASE. I've seen posts on social media of letters people have gotten back from her. It might take a while though. You could also write to the stage manager with a SASE and get a full cast signed Playbill - even better with a small donation for Broadway Cares enclosed.

I honestly hate stagedoors.  If you want to do something nice for a performer, write them a nice note.  They're humans who have other things happening in their lives.  They're tired and stressed and sometimes that comes out.  You can't shame them for not being robots.

Jessie has come out to sign occasionally since the show opened on Broadway. My friend met her. I met her in Cambridge after closing and she was one of the sweetest people I ever met. She was looking at my Screensaver on my phone and asked me who it was while I was trying to unlock the dang thing.
