Okay, I know there are probably a billion threads on this. But it is soon my nephews birthday and we both love theater. He is 13 and he is a big fan of the BOM album. I know the show has profanity (Hasa Digs Eebowai and more). But its not like he has never heard it beofre. But I myself never saw the show. Do you guys think it is appropriate for him to see. If not can you explain why?
**He saw Avenue Q so I think he will be okay but I just want to know opinions.

If he's heard the cast recording, and no one has had qualms with it, then he'll be fine at the show. There is nothing on stage that would make anything on the recording more inappropriate. Personally, I think a 13-year-old would be fine at BOM. That said, some are more protective than others. You don't appear to be overly protective.

Okay. I mean there is not nudity I'm assuming and I'm not overly protective but then again I am not his parents. That is the last say. I would have no problem taking him. Other than Hasa Diga Eebowai how bad is the cursing??

Yes, Fine. There's nothing a 13 year old hasn't seen/heard before.

There is no nudity. If his parents ok'd the cast recording, he's heard all the expletives there are to hear.

1. What do his PARENTS think?
2. While I would allow my 14 year old daughter go, she would likely be uncomfortable seeing it with me. (And she would still be uncomfortable at Ave Q -- she's a bit immature.)
3. I would not attempt to bring my HS group to see it and I refer back to #1.

I don't think it's WRONG to bring him, I just feel its a choice his parents should be involved in. (I loved the show, and both my kids listen to the music -- even my 11 year old -- but he's not ready to SEE the show.)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

There is quite a bit of cursing if I remember correctly. The cast album is a pretty good indicator of the material and content in the show IMO.

No I agree it is not my say and I said that before. But he is mature and he can get over most things. Thank you guys so much!
