The two of them can now do an Astro & Rachel Variety Hour for Disney or TBN.

Thoughts on tonight's finale? Personally I say they just go ahead and give the check to Melanie Amaro. In the words of the black girls I work with, she "slayed that junk".

I want Melanie to win. However, the only person who has the potential to have a successful career is probably Chris Rene. The other two will be forgotten by February.

Melanie is the strongest singer, Josh can also sing and has more of a unique voice than Melanie, and Chris is a good performer but can't sing.

I'm not a fan of any of them so I guess I don't care who wins.

If Chris loses, I hope he doesn't have a relapse. The X-Factor (U.S.)

I would have been fine with either Josh or Melanie winning, but would probably only buy Josh's CD. I'm just more drawn to his voice and musical style. I presume that someone will have signed him to a contract by Monday anyway. That being said, I still want to see Melanie sing "You're Gonna Love Me"...

Congrats to Melanie! Thoughts on what kind of CD you think she'll go for? I heard somewhere they want to aim for "70's disco diva".

Britney apparently turned it down.

As someone who hadn't even heard of the US X-Factor started until the judges got fired and it made the news, Britney would get me to watch it...well, she would at least get my attention.

Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus are rumored to be taking one of the judges spots. I hope they get Levato instead of Cyrus.

If Demi and Britney both joined, I'd tune back into this show. I liked it enough in the beginning, but the choices the judges made at times of who to keep and who to eliminate was so terrible in the beginning it was just so hard to care about many of them as they moved on.

The only one I liked was Rachel Crowe, the cute little boy and girl band known as inTENsity, and the girl who ultimately won, Melanie.

From the show's website:

"Multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning worldwide pop icon Britney Spears and singer, songwriter and actress Demi Lovato will join L.A. Reid and Simon Cowell as judges on THE X FACTOR, the hit singing competition series returning this fall on FOX.

Spears is one of the most successful and celebrated entertainers in pop history. Her musical career boasts nearly 100 million albums sold worldwide and countless awards and accolades, including the 2011 MTV Video Vanguard Award and Billboard’s Best-Selling Female Artist of the Decade (1998-2008 ). Spears first captivated audiences with her first single “…Baby One More Time,” an international hit that is currently 14x Platinum in the U.S. So far, Spears has earned a total of five No.1 debut albums and 24 Top 40 songs in her career.

Lovato is an accomplished singer and actress with a devoted and engaged young fan base. Her single, “Skyscraper,” off of her most recent album, “Unbroken,” recently went platinum, while the video for her new single, “Give Your Heart a Break,” already has garnered 10 million YouTube views. Her first album, “Don't Forget,” debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and her second album, “Here We Go Again,” debuted at No. 1. Lovato began acting at the age of 10, and starred in the cable television series, “Sonny With A Chance.” Her film credits include “Camp Rock” and “Princess Protection Program.”

"I'm absolutely delighted Britney and Demi are joining us,” said Simon Cowell. “Britney remains one of the biggest stars in the world, she's talented, fascinating – and I believe she knows exactly how to spot THE X FACTOR. Demi's had an amazing career in music, TV and film for someone her age. She's young, confident, and enthusiastic. I think it’s really important that she speaks to our younger audience. The new panel will be dynamic and will work really well with the changes we are making to the show.”

Spears added, “I couldn't be more excited to join THE X FACTOR judging panel. I'm a huge fan of the show and now I get to be a part of the action. Simon and L.A. better watch out!”

“I'm so thrilled to join this legendary group of judges on THE X FACTOR,” said Lovato. “To be able to spend each week with Simon, L.A. and Britney watching the best that America has to offer is truly a dream come true.”

Mike Darnell, President of Alternative Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company, noted, “Britney is an unparalleled superstar. Her success in the music industry over the last two decades makes her a perfect fit for THE X FACTOR judging panel. Demi has mass appeal and is beloved by her fans around the world. We are incredibly lucky to have them on board and we know they will bring so much excitement to the judging table for Season Two!”

“Britney Spears has done it all – she is the ultimate pop icon – and I am thrilled that she has agreed to join THE X FACTOR,” said executive producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz. “Nobody embodies THE X FACTOR more than Britney – she has shown the world what it means, how to do it and how to sustain it! Demi, like Britney, was discovered at a young age. Her ambition and drive solidifies her as one of the most popular young artists today. Now they will each get a chance to share their experiences and skills with the acts that they will mentor on THE X FACTOR.”

I know this might be old news, but I am a little surprised by this. Despite Nicole Scherzinger being fired from the American version of the show, she is going to judge the UK version of the show. That must be a slap in the face to Paula Abdul and Steve Jones since she sort of got her job back.

I don't think its a slap in the face to them, Simon made it clear that Paula and Steve just didn't work but Nicole didn't work for "this" show.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a huge Britney fan, and therefore a bit biased. But I thought admitting finally her anxiety issues (something fans have guessed about for a long time) was one of the most mature and real things she's done in awhile. Take a read. There's also a phone interview with Simon Cowell on TMZ where he talks a bit about it.

EDIT: Also, this could explain some of her lackluster performances in the past few years, as well as what most people have noticed as a "dead behind the eyes" sort of look. As most people know, benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium, Ativan) are typically prescribed for anxiety issues, and would explain a hell of a lot.

I'm extremely excited about this, and I would really love it if rumors were true and Kevin McHale [of Glee] or Corbin Bleu were to host.

Anybody give a fig?

I thought the opening shows were okay. Khloe was better as a host than I'd've thought. Didn't really care who went home tonight. The gay guy is annoying. Why must they play up the gay aspect so much? Probably why I don't remember his name.

Carly is the best.
