Seeing the show again on Friday, I'll see if they have new costumes. Excited to see an all-new lead trio,
"Hey little girls, look at all the men in shiny shirts and no wives!" - Jackie Hoffman, Xanadu, 19 Feb 2008
Ten shows in one week!! Is this correct? https://www.telecharge.com/Broadway/Chicago/Overview
...with matinee shows on Nov 20th, 25th, 26th!
Most shows are doing ten shows from Dec. 25 - 31. the week starts on Monday, so it's technically 9 shows that week and some are doing only 7 shows the week before.
Basically, this past Thursday's show started a 14 show run for Chicago. Their next day off is not until Nov. 27th!
yeah, that's mostly due to Thanksgiving. Chicago is one of the few shows to have a performance on Thanksgiving, hence their 14 shows in 10 days.
no word who's Velma or Roxie after 11/27? Maybe Gordon extends again?
Carly isn't coming back. She's on a hit just picked up for the entire season abc show - that airs on Tuesday nights. If you're such a big fan of hers you'd know - Google. Sitcom paycheck/two months as Velma? She won't be back.
Leigh isn't coming back, as fun as it'd be Charlotte ain't gonna be Velma.
Interesting thoughts. I never said I was a big fan of Carly Hughes. I mentioned her because she's one of only a few ladies who have recent experience playing the role. Also, no one mentioned Charlotte as a Velma. That will never happen. When she first started with the show, the powers that be wanted her as a Velma, but Charlotte convinced them that Roxie was better for her. By the way, AFW hasn't played Velma in quite a while. Is this a temporary or more of a permanent situation? Also, it would be a good time to let some of the Roxie/Velma understudies have a chance to perform. I would love to see Angel Reda as Roxie or Chryssie Whitehead as Velma. Who knows?
Dylis Croman is returning as Roxie from Nov. 28 -- Dec. 27, 2016. Also, Amra Faye Wright will be Velma Kelly from November 28, 2016--Feb. 19, 2017. https://www.telecharge.com/Broadway/Chicago/Overview
was really hoping AFW was done with Chicago. Oh well, hopefully she hasn't extended for a long contract again and we'll see a fresh Velma again in the Spring.
I don't recall seeing this video before. This is a video clip of 9 Roxies. The best one: Charlotte D'Amboise. I don't think I'll ever get a chance to see her as Roxie. The most underwhelming: Melanie Griffith. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4q9CxxHnQ0
Melanie was perfection. SHE was ROXIE. Can she sing? Not really. Can she dance? No it was dumbed down so much. Oddly with all that she was truly great in the role
This is an audio recording of Liza as "Roxie Hart" in the original "Chicago" on Broadway. This is the first time I've heard this. By the way, was it Liza Minnelli who was supposed to play Roxie in the revival, but didn't? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nTZ_dUaHQU
I don't know if this was mentioned, but Christopher Sieber is back for Billy Flynn tonight!

Christopher Sieber will be Billy Flynn until February 19, 2017.
I saw the show recently at the Ambassador and it was phoned in. Disappointing. There was one awesome dancer though, Michael Scirrotto. I was impressed. He showed a complete understanding of the choreography. Fosse would have been proud.
My sister is coming to visit in the first week of January, and really wants to see Chicago. I'm happy to take her to her first Broadway show. That said, I see that Arma-Faye Wright is Velma currently. I saw her with Charlotte D'amboise and was not impressed with her Velma (Charlotte on the other hand was absolutely fantastic). I take it that she's going to be Velma in January as well. What do you guys think of Dylis Croman as Roxie?
And sorry for asking such a newbie question, but given the choice of Orchestra Row B-C or Orchestra Row F-higher, which ones would you pick?
ETA:
Nevermind.
Orchestra BB is actually the first row. I don't know why. There's no Row AA. If you like being close and upfront, like I do, then by all means. You get to see the performers very upclose. Also, if you happen to be in one of the center orchestra seats, there's a chance you can catch one of the roses at the finale. The bad thing is that the closer you are to the stage...the longer it takes you to exit the theatre. Roman in (Laredo, TX currently visiting) Austin, Texas

There is a center orchestra Row BB and Row CC at the Ambassador because the current production of CHICAGO uses no pit so the pit is covered with those extra rows. You can definitely feel the wonky floor when you sit in the front row. I had posted originally that there is a Row AA because if you look at any seating chart online for the Ambassador, they do show a Row AA but there isn't one. That said, I do recommend sitting up front to see the chorus' expressions. However, it can be nice to sit a bit further back too to get a full picture of the beautiful choreography.
Thanks everyone. I chose Orchestra Row F stage left aisle. I felt it was a good compromise. I wonder if they'll get someone to fill in for Melanie B for the first week of January when she's out, when I'll be seeing it. I was hoping for Charlotte D'amboise again, but doubt she'd or anyone would just do a one week engagement.
I am looking forward to seeing the show on Sunday and Tuesday. I wanted Christopher Sieber to autograph a copy of the Advocate (2004?) when he appeared on the cover. I kept it all this time, but alas, I lost track of it recently...couldn't find it. I remember when he was on that show "It's All Relative". Harriet Harris was on that show too.
