I am PSYCHED for Martin Freeman, who I think is perfect. I would REALLY REALLY like to get some official confirmation for McKellen and Serkis.

Updated. I didn't post their conformations because they were just photos and I'm sure everyone here knows who they are.

I am so excited about Richard Armitage. He is so hot and so good!

You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree.

Well. With Peter Jackson directing, and the great Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, I'm there.

But really: does this have to be two movies? Surely they could knock this out in one three hour flick.

PERFECT casting. Just perfect. I keep hearing it's possible Viggo Mortensen,Orlando Bloom, and John Rhys-Davies may have cameos.

If anyone's interested, here's Ian Holm (the Lord of the Rings Bilbo) in 1964.

I second the excitement for Richard Armitage. He's both brilliant and beautiful.

^ That's just a dumb Yahoo photo gallery that is jumping the gun. About as reliable as a fan run message board. As of now, New Line has not released an official statement that Ian McKellen will be playing Gandalf in The Hobbit. It's fully expected, but not confirmed and he is not on the cast list....yet. lol

I think this is Ian's website and it says that he is returning.

However, I realized that there has been no official confirmation from New Line. So we will wait and see. Updated On: 12/9/10 at 10:22 AM

Elijah Wood is returning as Frodo. When I first read this I thought WTH! He doesn't appear in "The Hobbit." It takes place years before "The Lord of the Rings." However, he will only appear at the beginning of both parts as a sort of framing device for the narrative.

Dual Hobbit Film Titles Revealed?

Ringer Spy Mr. Underbelly monitors movie titles that are registered by major film studios. Mr. Underbelly noticed that New Line has recently registered the following two film titles:

The Hobbit: There and Back Again

and

The Hobbit: An/The Unexpected Journey

This is the first indication of what the 'official' titles will be of the two Hobbit films. What are your thoughts? Remember, this is not confirmed officially, but it is a relatively good indication of what the two film titles could be. Share your thoughts in our forum, comments and on Facebook!
