Angelina Jolie in Talks to Play Disney Villain Maleficent

I re-watched the trailer and I laughed so hard at the dialogue, "Don't be afraid. I am not afraid. Then come out. Then you'll be afraid." I found it to be so silly for a movie that is supposed to be dark. Aurora must be more naive then Fauna when she thought that the fairies could reason with Maleficent and that she couldn't be all bad.

I thought the same thing. This is why I am disappointed with Angelina's look. I was hoping Rick Baker would do something a little different. I mean, Angelina's Maleficent may be sinister but she's beautiful.Maybe they are going the way they did with Charlize Theron in Snow White and the Huntsman.

So this is "Wicked" with horns.
And Oz the Great and Powerful was Wicked from the Wizard's POV.

Disney has been trying to jump on the Wicked train for a long time. There's a book titled Fairest of Them All that paints the "true" story of the Evil Queen. The mirror was the real villain. I bought it at Magic Kingdom.

The outside of Stefan's Castle looks exactly link Hogwarts Castle. The three fairies use magical butterflies to bestow their gifts on Aurora? At 1:02 to 1:08 Maleficent and Aurora might become allies. That's interesting...

Ugh so disappointed to see another tired CGI battle scene. The tree people and the dragon look terrible. I was looking forward to this but not anymore. I did love the "well, well" sounded so old-fashioned.

Hollywood Studios has been showing an "extended sneak peek" for this, and I finally had a chance to head over there and take a look.

In addition to showing the longer theatrical trailer, they showed most of the christening scene, where Maleficent makes her first appearance. It was almost word for word, if not shot for shot, from the original film. One thing I noticed is the fairies (who have been renamed, for some unknown reason) all appear to have abnormally large heads.

The other scene we saw was a CGI fest in the woods. It appeared to be some fight scene, though Philip was never shown.

And yes, Maleficent appears bitters because she somehow lost her wings, and King Stefan is apparently responsible.

There was lots and lots of CGI, and I suspect the film will have about the same reception as Alice in Wonderland. That is, it won't receive very good reviews, but it will make a lot of money.

I've seen the extended pre-view in DCA (seven times) and thought it looked like a visually lush film. I enjoyed the added special effects of wind and smoke, but, sadly they won't be doing that in regular movie theatres.

Yea, when she first walks into the great hall, the entire theatre was like a tornado was going through it. When she casts the spell, we got swirling green lights throughout the theatre and when the dragon spit fire at the end, we got a giant blast of CO2 with flames projected onto it while the seats gave you a little 'poke'.

People were screaming their heads off!

We don't get nice things like that here. We're the red-headed stepchild of the North American parks.

DHS needs a DCA style makeover, but we'll never get it.
