Here's an interesting twist on Aurora's father Stefan, who is not the King. He is “half human, half fairy and the father of Aurora [Elle Fanning].” That role’s being eyed for Jolie‘s Sky Captain co-star, Jude Law;
Also, Jim Sturgess and Gael García Bernal, are up for the part of Diaval, “an Irish man with black hair, dark eyes and a slight Irish accent.” Though he starts off the story as a(n Irish) bird, the titular witch makes him a man and, soon enough, her lover. The rest of the lineup contains a few unsurprising names for this kind of film: Patrick Stewart for King Henry, and either Emma Thompson or Judi Dench for someone (or something) named Flittle.
For Flora and Fauna there are a number of actresses who I think would suit. Debbie Reynolds could play either, Betty White would be great as Fauna and Angela Lansbury would be a brilliant Flora.
Merryweather is a little harder to cast... Kathy Najimy seems to be a popular choice among fans.
I guess the previous source I posted about Stefan was not true. He is still going to be the King and he is apparently going to be played by Sharlto Copley.
Imelda Staunton, Miranda Richardson, Kenneth Cranham, Sam Riley, and Lesley Manville have joined the cast.
"The story centers on Angelina Jolie's title character, and puts a new spin on her relationship with Princess Aurora (Elle Fanning), a.k.a. Sleeping Beauty. Imelda Staunton and Lesley Manville are playing Knotgrass and Flittle, two of the pixies who care for Aurora. Miranda Richardson is portraying Queen Ulla, Maleficent's aunt who does like her evil niece. Sam Riley plays Diaval, Maleficent's trusted right hand, who transforms between a raven and a human. Kenneth Cranham is playing the human king, who tries to conquer the fairy kingdom."
I'm loving the bone like protrusions for her cheeks.
And its leading me to think shes got real horns, under that wrap
Great contacts, too!

Here's the first shot of her in costume. I'm hoping that's not the final look... More Pics here!

If Rick Baker did the make up I am sure we are going to see a very different Maleficent further on. SO far,there is no make up just a head piece by the costume designer. I'm sure she will be green and look a bit more sinister. Those pics will be under wraps til closer to the release date I would guess (unless they are leaked sooner) She really does look bad ass in this though.

Uhm, what do you mean 'No Make-Up'? It's very subtle.
Those are not her natural cheek bones...
Instead of the horns being her hat, as was in the Disney version, it looks as if the horns are growing out of her skull. Paring that with the sharp, high cheek bones, it's my guess (and it's just my guess at this point) is that she is actually part dragon.

Rick Baker is one of the best make up artist in motion pictures. I find it hard to believe they would hire him for such a basic simple make up job.Not sure what other characters are in the story so there might be others who require more make up than others.
