| Doe's anyone have any idea how many times Carol has performed the part?
Dame Judi Dench was crossing Shaftesbury Ave on her way to rehearsal and was almost run down by a speeding taxi, the taxi driver shouted to her out of the window, 'You stupid c**t!".
Dame Judi's fast reply- ''That's Dame C**t to you!'' |

| I love Carol dearly, but she is prone to exaggeration. The accepted number s 5,000 performances. I'd take it with a wee bit of salt, though.

| Well, considering 5000 is roughly 10 years of performances, I could easily buy that number.

| There were long lay-offs between some engagements and she did a few other shows in between, but 5,000 performances seems about right. There are times that Carol says she played way more but she promised Yul Brynner that she'd never top his performance record in THE KING AND I. This is what I meant when I referred to "a wee bit of salt".

| ^ Yea, she told that story at the concert I saw her at. She also followed with "Well, he's dead so I'm gonna go ahead and say that I did beat it."
