There was an interview with Glenn on Today and she said that she's doing 7 shows (vs Sunset Boulevard officially coming back to Broadway / Discount Code. Any clue when the alternate goes and and who it is?

spareparts - Sunset is only playing 7 shows a week so there';s not an alternate for an 8th performance.  Glenn will play all performances

Previews begin on Thursday... I'm dying to see and hear how this production is. It's one I'm most excited for this season.

Is this a different costume than what she'll be wearing for "The Perfect Year"? I'm just guessing as I know how heavy the original one was...

robbie - I think that's what that costume is for... Would make sense.

Kind of wished she would go with the turban for the With One Look outfit.  I mean, come one - it's one of the most iconic costumes from the original... looks weird without it

Because they're reviving it, the creative team has to change some things up to make it their own. Look at what happened to Cats. They basically re-staged the original and it's only been getting a lukewarm reception at best. I think the key to a successful revival is to give some iconic design elements from the original a facelift or a sort of cameo appearance in the show and then give the audience something new to gawk at.

Thats a good point littlemouse - the only thing I'd disagree with is that it seems like  a pretty substantial overhaul here in this production.  The set design, and direction (the show is being seen from Joe's perspective)  seem to be a very different take (at least from the interviews and reviews in London)

But I guess perhaps some shifts in costume design tries to deflect people comparing it to the original too much

We didn't get to see too many costumes from the promotional photo's that were released from the ENO production last year.  I'm curious, if there were any changes, were they already used at the ENO or has Broadway made modifications?  Hmm.

Aside from costume changes, I'm curious to see/hear if there were changes and or revisions to the score.  I know that ALW said he changed something with the overture...

Weird, I always thought the show was downhill after the overture.

I really love this show. I saw it pre-Broadway when it premiered in Los Angeles with Glenn Close. Actually saw it twice in Los Angeles. I was lucky enough to see it on Broadway with Betty Buckley, too...

This production, coming to Broadway, is a mere shadow of its former self. A minimalist, stripped down version of the original. I know I would love it...but from many of the posts I read here, it seems like people think they will be seeing a full blown production. Not the case. Think Encores...which is not a bad thing.

I'd just love to see Norma's mansion levitate again!!

Michelle - I agree with you - that I would love to see that mansion levitate again... Saw it on Broadway 8 times (!!! - still can't believe that) and (no disrespect) would love to see a new "name" actress as Norma.  But Sunset being one of my all time favorites, and having a 40 piece orchestra (I don't think I've ever heard an orchestra that large live) I'm not only going with an open mind - I'm excited to see it again.

And from what the reviews and interviews are saying, it's a bit more elaborate than simply a staged concert version.  Will see it Saturday and look forward to reporting on it.

Will be in NYC Wednesday through Friday.  Seeing the Great Comet matinee on Wednesday when I get in, but still debating what to see on Thursday.  I'm intrigued by the possibilities here and I've always enjoyed Glenn Close's acting performances, but even with the discount codes the prices are a bit steep (not always an issue, but I'm trying to be fiscally responsible this year! ha!).  I'm not that worried about the fact that it's the first preview, but should I see this over, say, checking out James Monroe Iglehart in Aladdin before he leaves? Or something else?

Not looking to turn this into a 'what should I see?' thread...just looking for folks' input on whether I should prioritize this over just about everything else on Broadway today.  I am hoping to be back in the city in March and would have a spot or two for shows then as well.

We saw this in London and loved it.  Would highly recommend it, and don't see the problem with a preview since its not a "new" staging.

Right now, we are in the lull after and before the storm, so there isn't a lot of stuff that I find compelling.  Enjoyed Dear Evan Hansen.  And of course, Hamilton if you get lucky.

You cant go wrong seeing Close in this role.  Really.
