What are the chances of THE VISIT transferring?

Golden Boy, I agree with you about Gypsy's climax. And I imagine that the the first time you saw it, when Rose realizes she did it all for herself you didn't think, "Wow. I didn't see that coming."

goldenboy, you do realize that The Visit is based on a classic play of the same name?

If KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN could be a success on Broadway, so could this.

There is room on Broadway for the dark stuff. Not everything has to be pitched to children, the mentally infantilized, lazy-minded Boomers and people who only respond to the tried-and-true.
"It's now rather very common to hear people say 'I'm rather offended by that'. As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more than a whine. It has no meaning, no purpose. It has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that'. Well, so f**king what?"--Stephen Fry

Exactly.

historical context: Cabaret (not popular with audiences until the reviews came out), Chicago (and we all know how THAT turned out), and Spider Woman were all supposed to be dark, unpleasant stories that couldn't possibly be successful on Broadway, because of the storyline.

Cast member Jason Daniely put a link to a article on his Facebook mentioning the closing this past weekend... following with his words.. "Watch this space..."

Can't wait to see it.

I wonder if this transfers if Judy Kuhn will do this or Fun Home.

I would assume that her role in FUN HOME is better. She basically has a speaking role in THE VISIT, with only a few sung lines. Out of the supporting cast, Jason Danieley makes out the best, given that he has a full (and pivotal) solo. David Garrison is also very good as the mayor.

Judy Kuhn has a show-stopping solo in FUN HOME...it seems likely she would do FUN HOME if she was forced to choose.

Excellent!

I LOVE "Yellow Shoes"!

YELLOW SHOES is easily a modern K&E classic. Reminiscent of showstoppers in Cabaret and Chicago.

Absolutely, ljay889. More people need to hear (and see) it.

I preferred "You, You, You". That was the only timeless song for me. "Yellow Shoes" is cute but "You, You, You" had me CRYING.

She's been with Fun Home for years, and I can't imagine she would bail now that the show is going to Broadway.

When I saw the show at the Goodman, Yellow Shoes was a standout mainly because it was really the only big production number. It was cute and the only song I considered "catchy", but when mentioning classic Kander & Ebb, it's practically forgettable by comparison with the likes of Cabaret, Chicago, Zorba, Flora the Red Menace, The Rink, Kiss of the Spider Woman or 70, Girls, 70.

I hope they announce something soon. News of a cast recording has also been surprisingly very quiet.

Yeah, now that it is done at Williamstown, I hope they announce the Broadway transfer!

I assume we will hear about a cast recording once it transfers, if it does. "Original Broadway Cast Recording" is likely the title they'd want for the recording.

Someone on ATC claims that the Roundabout is soon going to announce two more shows this season. Could one of them be THE VISIT?

Not sure where it could go though.

I believe the American Airlines Theater has a winter slot open. (There's also the Laura Pels.)

Person on ATC is wrong. Roundabout only has one more show, and that's the Pels slot. No more Broadway to announce.

I thought they HAD to do 2 more shows for the subscribers. (Aren't they supposed to do a certain number of shows per season?)

Subscribers will be able to get tickets to Noises Off in place of an additional show this year.
