I just recently found this image of the original show curtain for THE GOLDEN APPLE which i thought was beautifully striking.
Some classics:
A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC
SWEENEY TODD
ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY
MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG
GRAND HOTEL
WAR PAINT
SUNSET BOULEVARD
Are there really only two shows with a pre show curtain this season? So far.
Amelie has one. And we have a lot of shows yet to start previews that will probably have one as well.
Miss Saigon kind of has one. It appears to pull off in differnt directions when the show starts, if I remember correctly. It is also kind of dark.

This one is slightly misleading, I get that the thread's name is show curtains, but it was talking about pre-show to set the mood... this curtain only drops for intermission and it doesn't even stays down for long... when I returned from the bathroom it was gone... and the pre-show curtain doesn't have anything on it...

Similarly, the Sunday In the Park with George revival at the Hudson opens with the orchestra onstage and no curtain, but a large print of the Seurat painting on which the show is based (A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte} is dropped at the end of the first act.
