A New "View" Starts Today |
The tension is just uncomfortable to watch though. Case in point: https://youtu.be/K57wdNkIHoc?t=1m44s

Whoopi is so rude, obnoxious and dismissive. Not just to the co-hosts, but to the in-studio audience who she barely acknowledges (I know from two visits to the show). She's incredibly talented, but enough already. She needs to go.
Raven was back today. She was sick with the flu two weeks ago, and last week, she was out filming Black-ish in Los Angeles. These were the excuses given on the air anyway...
Whoopi also gave a shoutout to Nicole Wallace today. If Whoopi likes you, she sure makes it known. I just don't get why this show cannot decide on some consistency with the panel. Sunny and Sarah are on the show more than some of the official hosts seen everyday in the introduction. I don't think Sarah brings too much to the table, not sure why they are so insistent on including her so often. I do think Sunny would make a fabulous regular addition.
Nicole Wallace was fantastic in her coverage of this weeks politics on MSNBC. First time I tune into that network in a while. I enjoyed seeing Brian Williams as well. I hope Michelle Collins is kept at the View. Whoopi made a dig at ABC a few weeks ago for not using her more.
Joy loves Michelle, however, Michelle doesn't have the greatest fan base and I haven't been told this but I think that plays into it. Sarah is a hit with the producers, big wigs at ABC and viewers. Truthfully I wouldn't be shocked if she made her way on the panel full time after maternity leave from the network.
Raven was indeed sick and at Black'ish. I haven't seen Nicolle Wallace but glad to hear she's back on the screen. I know last year when she left The View there were rumors of her own political show, sadly that never happened.
Is Whoopi trying to get fired?

I really think they need to go back to what the show originally set out to be, which was a multitude of viewpoints. Michelle Collins is quite funny, but she doesn't really bring a particularly interesting viewpoint to the show. I think Joy is great. I think Sarah is quite funny and open, and honest. And I don't love Sunny, but I like seeing someone give a differing opinion than Whoopi's.
I've watched The View a few times this season & Michelle, Candice & Raven just don't belong on the panel. All three are useless. It should be Whoopi, Nicole Wallace, Joy, Paula & Sarah Haines. And when Whoopi's not there, the show doesn't go anywhere & Joy tries to completely take over. I keep wondering how much longer ABC will drag the show along.

Actually.. the show is doing very well in the ratings. So I have no idea what your talking about.
ratings or not, The View isn't that great anymore. ABC doesn't care if they have to fire 3 co-hosts every year, just as long as they have decent ratings.
I have to wonder if Michelle Collins is on her way out. She's never on the show anymore. Even when another co-host is out, we get either Sarah Haines or Sunny Hostin.

How does that work salary wise? Does Collins still get paid for the work if she's never there? Or has her contract been redesigned?
20th Season has been ordered and Candi Carter is the official EP. I'm hearing whispers that ABC has approached Sara Haines to work on "The View", not sure as to what capacity.
I've been watching more & more regularly since the New Year. Seems like the chemistry has really come together with Whoopi, Joy, Paula & Candice. Raven's an idiot & I haven't seen Collins on the show in about a month(though I don't watch every day). They should replace Collins with Sara Haines and only have Raven on the show when needed starting with season #20.

Sunny Hostin returns to ABC News as senior legal correspondent and analyst. Guess this means she won't be a full-time View co-host.

I agree. It's gotten better, but it still seems evident that Whoopi doesn't exactly enjoy Paula. I also find it bizarre that the unofficial guest cohosts Sunny and Sarah are on the show far more often than regular hosts Michelle and Raven. There's too many people involved for them to really establish that strong chemistry that the show used to have in many former seasons.

The tension between Whoopie and Paula is palpable, attributable to the mealymouthed Paula-splaining about any topic that has sociopolitical content. She tried to airbrush politics out of the Flint debacle, when the entire story is about government's failure. She has a bizarre worldview, that "political" means controversy that makes her personally uncomfortable; she self-presents as anti-intellectual more than conservative. She doesn't wear well, and every time Goldberg smacks her, I am perfectly content.
Collins is not as charming as she once was, seems to be pushing, as if trying to keep the gig. Her facile acceptance of Trump's phallocentrism after the debate was just strained and strange. Her point of view now seems glib, whatever works in the moment, as a comic might. But who is she? She doesn't come across as having strong ideas about much of anything, unless she can wring a joke. Easy to see why she's likely a short-timer.
They could easily cut Collins loose after this season and I doubt anyone would notice. Just replace her with Haines in September.
