Agreed.  It's somewhere between obstruction of justice and witness tampering.

Regarding Garland, as a former prosecutor and current circuit judge, he is definitely qualified.  And while the Dems wouldn't want to open a seat on the circuit court for Trump to fill, it's a weak argument. They'd be hard-pressed to fight his appointment as FBI Director after trying to get him on the SCOTUS.

I like the idea of Merrick Garland as FBI Director but he'd be bundled out the moment he refused do AG Jeff Session's bidding, or Trump's by proxy.  The FBI is entirely too political right now for anyone with a shred of dignity to consider the Director position, IMHO.  Trump sent Comey a not so veiled threat on Twitter earlier today. The fake POTUS has turned into Bully in Chief.

My two cents' worth on Garland: given his extremely deferential attitude towards the government in matters of crime and punishment, I'd say he's a way better fit for the FBI than he was for the Supreme Court.

Trump, Sessions and the new FBI Director will constitute the New Axis of Evil.  On 5/10/2017, AG Sessions issued new guidelines to federal prosecutors basically instructing them to throw the book at defendants charged with illegal drug offenses.

I wish Trump was dead.  I wish his whole cabinet was dead.  Trump is dead!, would be my favorite headline in my life.  Trump is a festering piece of sewage.  He is the biggest piece of garbage in the history of the USA. Now, do you feel safer?  Certainly they'll come after me first.

Well... I've already been visited by police (at my university and then at home) because of something I wrote on Facebook back in 2012. Not about Trump, but rather my wishes regarding anti-LGBT voters when there was a referendum here in Maryland. I didn't get in any real trouble, but it was incredibly annoying, and I fear that things might end worse now because I wouldn't be as deferential to whatever jack-booted thugs visited me this time.

The dead tend to become martyrs, which is just about the last thing we need.  We need people to come to their senses and see him for what he is, which is a con man and charlatan, with no dignity, decency, or empathy.  And we need his shame to be pervasive enough to render Pence, Ryan, and McConnell useless for standing by him.  In my opinion, there's a tipping point where Republicans will throw him under the proverbial bus.  For most sane people, that point has come and gone, but not for the GOP.
