I was there as well. I don't want to report on the actual production until after the first preview tomorrow as a courtesy to the production. But I'll talk about tonight specific stuff, and tonight was an event! It seemed like the whole industry was there tonight. Everyone there really wanted to be there, a solid minute of entrance applause for Bette (David, Kate and Gavin got it as well, but on more of a normal scale) and there were standing ovations after the Waiters and the title song. Bette dropped lines twice and called for it, turned to the audience, made a joke both times about it having to do with her bag and then went on, she handled it with class.

Production value wise is it just like the original? Or are there some creative choices happening?

Should we just assume Midler has won Best Actress at this point?

I was there last night but don't think it seemly to discuss a rehearsal. When you're invited the presumption is that you're not going to yap about it. Once the paying costumers are attending then it's fair game to discuss.

I don't know. I think if La La Land losing the Oscar for Best Picture taught us anything, nothing in life is ever a sure thing.

Midler could probably still win, but I wonder if anyone of her potential competitors could pull an upset as some of their roles have more gravitas.

IdinaBellFoster, I don't think he is arguing that Bette wont win, just that nothing is ever a sure thing (except Hamilton winning Best Musical last year let's be real). And LLL's Best Picture chances were actually seen as much more set in stone than Emma's Best Actress chances before the ceremony.

This is where I'm sitting. I don't have tickets until next month, but I used 'a view from my seat' online to try and get an idea of what the view would be.

Was able to find one seat (Box Left, Row 2, Seat 2) for the week of my trip in May. The week was originally sold out completely (aside from those front row seats they released). I was very hesitant at first but went ahead and bought it. This sounds like a must-see! Originally was gonna fill my last slot with War Paint, Comet, Groundhog Day...
