A New "View" Starts Today |
Variety is reporting Nicolle has been officially fired but offered a "contributor" role.
Seriously, who is making these decisions.
What a group of idiots.
That's awful. This show has just completely disintegrated this year. Firing Nicolle was a very bad decision.
I'm done with this show as well. What a big mistake they're making. I bet Whoopi is PISSED and wants out.
Whoopi was upset when Perez announced she was leaving & I would imagine she'll be upset if they have Wallace make an announcement on the show tomorrow. I wonder if Whoopi might try and get out of her contract??

That would involve not being a passive lump.
I just talked to someone close to the show who said, "If it's true, I can tell you I haven't gotten an email yet."
Wonder if View execs see people flipping out on FB/Twitter and are reconsidering?
yeah, the show's FB page is blowing up with tons of people pissed off about Wallace being fired. We'll find out tomorrow at 11am EST.

Nicolle fired in favor of...Candace Cameron Bure?? She's just as uninformed on "celebrities" and pop-culture, coming from her mommy-universe, as Nicolle is, though Nicolle is funnier and self-deprecating about it. #bringbackNicolle
The Crystals performed today. The lead singer is the only original remaining member...but she was woefully out of tune. Until they said that she was the only original remaining member, I thought "gee, must have been a while since she's sang, or something." Oy.
well, Wallace dodged the issue when given the chance to say something at the beginning of the show. But she was clearly emotional & based on her emotions I'd say it's official she's fired. She's also been very quite during Hot Topics so far.

Wasn't that strange just now? Firing her for Bure or any of the others is beyond idiocy. And isn't it interesting that the audience of progressives seems most upset she's being dumped. If this thread is anecdotal evidence of Wallace's sustained impact among liberals, she's proven an enormous game-changer (ba dump bump) in the way Republicans self-present. She has impressed, indeed charmed, a lot of us, helping to lift one of The View's most volatile seasons and keep it intelligent and focused. Can't say that about most of the others.

(Namo OT: Re your post #470: The City set, later The View's was designed by a wonderful designer, Bill Mickley. I worked with him. He designed for Dance in America on PBS, GH, the Muppets, and won two Emmys for All My Children. He was a lovely man. It was fitting that his set was partially recycled. He died so very young, at 58, in 2005.)

I never even knew that about the original View set because I had ZERO interest in that show until Rosie O joined.

It startled me how much the firing of Wallace bothers me. Some idiotic focus groups must have decided that she's not frenzied enough to hold their interest (i.e. she discusses topics with nuanced -- not black/white -- thinking.) As I posted above, the most interesting aspect of her tenure is how much liberals grew to appreciate her savvy and homework. This thread's endorsment of Wallace speaks volumes. She never appeared less than prepared, and always annotated her opinions with facts. (Facts, still unwelcome on opinion-driven shows; a separate topic.) The show doesn't promote or embrace the sort of even-tempered, hysteria free behavior she demonstrated consistently, even with Goldberg had the screaming mimi's from pain meds, and O'Donnell turned into a persecuted victim. That it came from a Bush-era Republican operative is the ultimate irony: she made fans of many of us who probably secretly wanted her to fail last September. And for the record: McCain would've done better picking her, rather than having her train a piece of wet cardboard from Alaska.
IF Wallace being fired turns out to be true I'd love to...
A. See her run a political campaign again (because last time she didn't have a shot...)
B. Get her own show.
I'll add that Wallace should get her own show. ASAP - this September if possibly. NBC should swoop her up.
And Sherri's part of the rotating panel of co-hosts. Though one thing is interesting with this rotating panel is that in the press release it stated these rotating co-hosts would fill the 5th seat, so I wonder if they're looking to replace Wallace completely and stick to the 5th seat as announced. I doubt I'll watch the new season, the show has completely fallen off it's track just when it seemed to be getting back in place with Perez, Wallace, Raven & Collins joining in.
