Didn't Trump Say He Was Going To Be "Good For The Gays?" |
Never mind. For now.
The bickering about when they became in favor of it is useless. We know the score now, the country has evolved on this, not much else. The OP started a ridiculous topic. We could offer; Didn't Trump say he was going to be.... a million things.

Why are you so obsessed with me?
While I am certainly no Trump fan, by any means, I have to ask...what did Concierge do to warrant being called out in this manner? He hasn't said so much as a single word on this thread.

Don't flatter yourself. Neither I, nor anyone else here, to my knowledge, is obsessed with you.
You once said on this very board that Trump would be "good for the gays." Do you still believe this? Why? Do you honestly support the curing of funding for AIDS research, or the discrimination bills that Trump and Pence support (thinly disguised as "religious freedom" bills)? Will you speak out, or will you be a typical Trump supporter who ignores the disaster and just follows along?
All I've asked you to do, repeatedly, is to attempt to justify the actions of this abhorrent individual, yet you refuse. This is the man you supposedly voted for- do you still support him? How do you feel about his disgusting attack on Mika Bryzinski today?
I know you won't answer any of these questions because you'll continue to pretend to be above such discussion, but you really just end up making yourself look like more of a fool than you already are.
My name is neither "adam" nor "greer."

He voted for Donald Trump, so he gets what he deserves.
And, yes, I am hateful and intolerant. I will never tolerate, and will always hate, people who stand against freedom and justice.

He once, among other things, posted on this board that Trump would be "good for the gays." Now he needs to defend that statement.

Hopefully he meant to say best of the worst. I'd probably guess Trump is better for the gays than Cruz or Carson. Maybe not Kasich - though he hasn't the best record. Cruz in particular would have taken the USA so far to the theocratic right in terms of gay rights, women's rights and education systems the country might as well have been an Islamic country.

You would be wrong. There was no qualifier. BC is a proud Republican, disgusting as that is.

No Republican is going to be better than any other when it comes to protecting gay rights. Every Republican will appoint judges like Neil Gorsuch to every level of the judiciary. Every Republican supports the ridiculous religious freedom laws (or at least support a state's right to pass such legislation).
Trump, Cruz, Carson, Kasich-- doesn't matter. The progress made towards equality would be in danger.
"Don't flatter yourself," says the person who calls me out by name in threads in which I haven't even posted.
I have to say, adamgreer, it's funny that you're still so baffled and surprised that I won't respond to your "repeated" calls to offer my political stances in detail (seriously, why do you crave what I have to say so badly?). For what reason would I enter engaged political discussion with an anonymous person online who, in this one thread alone, has called me "disgusting" and "a fool"?
Leave me alone. You are a mean-spirited name-caller and I don't roll like that.
Leave me alone. You can't randomly submit my name in a negative context and then act horrified that I won't engage with you.
Leave me alone. Just because you've been able to scapegoat me doesn't make me any less proud of what I believe. You know nothing about what I fight for. You know nothing about my personal life. You know nothing about me.
Leave. Me. Alone.

That's pretty laughable considering how eager you were to spout your pro Trump political beliefs BEFORE the election.
Now that he's a disasterous President, like anyone with half a brain knew he would be, you don't have anything to say. Sudently it's beneath you to talk poltics with anonymous message board users.
Sad!

Not. A. Chance.
This is what you voted for, you get to live with that reminder now.

ErikJ972, yes, I used to be significantly more active on these Off-Topic boards. My low activity of late isn't a byproduct of the Trump presidency; it's because I gradually saw how unbelievably mean people are on here can be. That's why I posted this thread and bowed out of here. Which is what I'll be doing again after this post!
Oh, and adamgreer, don't get me wrong. I'm thrilled to be reminded of what I voted for. Just not thrilled to be reminded of it by angry name-callers.
I find it hilarious that you seem to be so troubled by name-calling and people being "mean", when you yourself proudly supported the biggest and meanest name-caller around. Sounds like you're a bit of a precious snowflake.

^ Trump is the absolute worst. But you're becoming super tiresome and sound a bit whiny. Why can't you just discuss the matter at hand? Who gives two sh*ts what BC thinks. Ignore the dude.

The more you mention and discuss him, the more it boosts his profile and strokes his ego. Kind of counter-intuitive....

I'm not going to ignore anyone who supports that man. I will call you out, shame you, and question your mental stability. I'm tired of not fighting fire with fire. The birther movement is the perfect example. It was dismissed as "crazy talk" that should be ignored. I'm not ignoring that kind of bat$hit anymore. You support this man-child, I will fight you with the same venom that you fought me.
I'm thrilled to be reminded of what I voted for.
An angry name-caller is what you voted for, you hypocrite.

YOU. GO. GIRL!
Trump singing "I'd Be Surprisingly Good for You" to the gays is so going in my revised, GOP-themed Evita production, along with "Eff You, Caitlyn Jenner."
The bickering in this thread is exactly how the DNC was unable to win what should have been a slam dunk election. By running under the title of Democrat (a ploy to get more votes than his self-identified independent status), Sanders awoke a large faction of young, white voters who deemed themselves too good for Hillary, turning large amounts of the DNC against Clinton, backing her into a corner where she was already detested by the GOP.
As detestable as it is, Sanders has succeeded in breaking apart the DNC with his followers in his bid for the presidency (does anyone doubt he will run in 2020?) and it will be harder than ever to win back the house and/or senate next year with the swaths of voters he has turned against the more center-leaning members of the party. Which of course has left the party vulnerable at the moment when we most need to be united.
I want to retake the house and senate as much as we all do, but I can't help but forseeing a future where, after failing in 2018, the Bernie faction will once avian blame the rest of the party for not supporting them, forgetting that Bernie was the one who went to the Democratic side while still running a socialist and independent platform. In their words, a ploy to get a greater amount of votes, akin to that idiot Stein running as a Dem in 2020.
All I will conclude is that I think that's Clinton has been the epitome of grace, class, and firey resistance since November. And there can be no doubt she was a much better surrogate for Obama in 2008 than Bernie was last year. I am still in shock about the accepted sexism of the last year, especially from the Bernie Bros (Clinton and Pelosi are harsh shrews when all Bernie does during debates is scream, yell, and interrupt). While many may believe Sanders knows how to renew the Democratic party, Hillary is, and will continue to be, the person I look to for guidance.
These are dark times for the Dems. We thought the GOP would be splintered for good and know it turns out that's what's happened to us - and from our "own" party, no less!
I don't doubt that Bernie's running might have been one of the factors that cost Hillary the election. But we have to think about why that is - Bernie's progressive vision for the future of the USA and bringing the country back in line with the rest of the western world really resonated with a large number of voters. There is no turning back now - future candidates can't ignore this vision or risk losing. I personally doubt that Sanders will be the one carrying the message in 2020. He is too old.
