She's naturally very charming and likable and that fits Charity. The singing also shouldn't be too much of a stretch. I vaguely remember her being fine with the dancing in Cabaret but then she didn't have to do as much of it as she'd have in Sweet Charity so that might be an issue.

She probably wouldn't want to do it at this stage in her career but there are probably some supporting roles she could do as well."

Love this idea.

Lili is written for a high soprano, so absolutely not.

Emma Stone has been rather adamant that she can't really handle the demands of a Broadway score eight times a week because she has vocal nodules from when she was very young, and I seem to remember her saying she had a bit of trouble managing Sally Bowles which is not a difficult sing at all.

That said, I'd love to see her in a play. I think she'd fit well in a Sarah Ruhl play, maybe Eurydice or something new. Also, she's about the same age Zoe Kazan was when she played Harper at Signature, and I think she'd be fascinating.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Adelaide in Guys and Dolls. She could be sensational.

I saw Emma in the Roundabout production and thought to myself that she was doing very well for a probably nervous newcomer. Not savvy enough to realize that I was watching a rave.

Brantley, whose review was a rave, made this comment on her future in the musical theater:

Ms. Stone — who, for the record, sings and dances well enough to justify her character’s job at the Kit Kat Club, while making us understand why she’ll never advance much beyond it — is also savvy enough to let us know that Sally’s greatest fear is that she doesn’t count.

I could see her doing a very interesting Audrey in Little Shop

Oh, that's a very interesting suggestion. I think I would miss the contrast between the sort of whispery voice and the big notes. Actually, Audition was a disappointment because I thought she'd managed a little more vocal power when she was playing Sally. I don't think the character of Audrey is a good fit for her though. She would come across as someone doing a school production.

For years now, I thought she'd make a great Charity, whether on stage or on film. She has the charm, the dance ability, and it would fit in her vocal range easily.

"I still think that Sam Mendes and Rob Marshall should adapt Cabaret for the screen with her and Alan Cumming.  Throw in Meryl Streep as Schneider and it'd be quite a hit."

I would be ALL over that... the original Fosse film is one of my all-time favorites, but I'd love to see a new take on it with the missing (or revised) songs from the stage show intact.

Wasn't there talk of a Sam Gold 'Streetcar' revival with Adam Driver? Emma's too young, but she'd be a great Blanche DuBois

Okay, she's not interested in musicals. Why are we forcing the mould on her, even if she did have the voice/dance skills to handle these roles? (Though her Adelaide can be very funny)

I'd like her to be in plays. Maggie in Cat On A Hot Tin Roof?

I think she'd make a wonderful Charity. It's not like Gwen Verdon and Shirley MacLaine's voices were much better. She's got the charm and acting ability for it and I think she has the voice for it, too. Ruth in Wonderful Town is another great suggestion. In a decade or so, she could make an interesting Rose, too, since God knows they'll be ready to roll out another revival of Gypsy any day now.

I think she could pull of Illona in She Loves Me.

She would be too low. Lili's highest note (I think) is a high D. Plus, she's too old now.

I would love her as Catherine in "Suddenly Last Summer"! In the Williams vein, why not Alma in "Summer and Smoke", or Marguerite in "Camino Real"? Princess in "Sweet Bird of Youth" is actually picture perfect casting - can you imagine the depths of the first act contrasted with the deluded self-assurance of the third?

She'd also be interesting in "Hedda Gabler" or "A Doll's House". Is she too old for Irina in "Three Sisters" and "The Seagull"'s Nina?

Hell, she might even make "Tiny Alice" a hit if she plays Miss Alice.

I think she's fine where she is. Broadway already has enough actresses with far more talent than she has. I have no interest in seeing her on a stage. I don't know what it is, but I just don't like her (maybe because she looks a bit like Lindsay Lohan, I dunno).

Is she to old to play the daughter in the gingerbread lady to Julia Louis Drefyus as her mom?

My first thought was Little Shop as well. I think she would bring a new take to it. Also, within the next 4-7 years, she would be a wonderful Catherine in Pippin.

Don't tell that to Roundabout. They added another two weeks to the run and sold an awful lot of premium tickets because of her.

I wonder if Reese Witherspoon can sing?

The problem with actor / singers rather than singer / actors is they can be cruelly exposed without the technical tweaking on film. Les Miserables worked well as a film but just listen to the CD and a lot of the voices are horribly thin. The same with Emma Stone - when you can only hear her on the CD rather than see her on film she is very underwhelming. By all means let her be in a play but not a musical.
