No protester made it close to the White House, much less knock down any type of fencing or gate. Stop spreading such ridiculous rubbish.

Today was a fantastic day for America, a day this country desperately needed. Let's hope this builds momentum into the kind of resistance that'll be necessary to stop Trump.

I was at the NYC march, and it was such a powerful display that I was moved to tears the moment I stepped out of Grand Central. Brava to all who took part.

The signs at the NYC march were priceless, and most would not get past the moderators. My favorite was, "At least Hitler could paint."

I got to Pennsylvania Avenue at around 2:30 I'd say. So did you get to the White House?

I saw photos that the White House fence were knocked over, not sure if that's what I was seeing though.

I got up to 13th St. NW at around that time.

I was at the LA March, and there were so many people that there was no place to march to, so it was rebranded as the LA Stand.   The signs were amazing, as well as the energy.   We really could not hear the speeches because they were about 8 blocks away and everyone was already gridlocked, so we just chatted with other folks and talked about how to translate this day into long term action.

And, for all of those who would never believe it, LA's metro rail was booked solid, with the vast majority of folks coming in via the light rail/subway.

My comment to folks was that the midterms effectively started today - that this energy needs to be turned into action.

I had worried that all of the satellite marches being set up might subdue attendance in D.C. and dilute the gesture. I am so glad to be wrong. Millions of Americans out today. So heartening The New York march today was wonderful. Now I hope we can harness all of the fire and connection this started.

Wow. Would be interesting to find out about smaller ones too. I know the town I was born in had 1.

The thing that makes me sad is that there are people out there who didn't vote and hate activism. They are what is wrong with this country.

Worth noting: there have been no reports of arrests or  violence at any of these events around the world. That is astonishing. Brava!

New estimates worldwide are saying the totals are at ~5 million with still some international cites yet to report.

A Chorus Line played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013.

I live in Podunk, South Trumptucky, and our local march attracted between 800 and 1000 people.  Several other smaller communities had similar sized groups.  You don't see that kind of response in areas like this.

I don't expect "they" understand what has happened.  "They" will snicker, talk about how "emotional" women can be.  "They" cynically believe women and progressives are unable to follow up and follow through.  "They" think it can be dismissed as more out of touch, big city elitism.  "We" will prove them wrong.  It is not only this administration that is unprecedented.

I am all for the protests and marches - Would have attended NYC one if I could! But this is false, misleading and a downright lie (assuming you know better). There were a total of 217 arrests made yesterday in connection with all nationwide events. Don't get me wrong... that's incredible! But let's be honest and make sure we're fighting ignorance with truth and facts.  xo

Have a source for that? I'd seen that number in relation to protests in DC on the 20th (which seemed to be mostly anarchists looking to cause problems) but after a cursory Google search I only found an article marking three arrests in Denver and none in DC.

I do think there's a critique to be made about the police presence at these marches vs protests staged by Black Lives Matter or other activist groups, but at the very least conservatives can't pull out one of their favorite protest tropes, which is that of the "lawless paid protester thug".

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

Headband--you are still the same F*CKing LIAR and FAKE NEWS SPREADER you were before the election.

The 217 number does NOT refer to any arrests made during the Women's March, which occurred on Saturday. It refers to the number of people arrested in Washington on INAUGURATION DAY (Friday), protesting the inauguration, not women who gathered on SATURDAY but anarchists on FRIDAY.

Stop using BroadwayWorld as a place to leave your fake-news turds. Or, at the very least, post links with your bullShit, like a normal person.

Your post was clearly designed to insult the millions of women who gathered in peace on SATURDAY by linking them ERRONEOUSLY with professional anarchist agitators.
