They're not moving it to Broadway. That was never the plan and it isn't now.

I knew that, hence my saying if sales/reviews warranted it. Newsies was never meant for broadway either.

Regardless of sales/reviews, it's not coming to Broadway. That's my point which you ignored.

I saw this at the La Jolla Playhouse last night and thought that it was very enjoyable and really fun.  Based on reviews from D.C., I booked a flight to San Diego to see this before it closes on 3/19.  Loved the cast and the production was really excellent!  The venue is great and there isn't a bad seat in the house. I pre-ordered the cast recording, and am looking forward to hearing the songs again.

I've been listening to the cast album non-stop since it was released digitally. I adore this score, it has to be my favorite Tom Kitt score. For me the highlights on the album are "What You Got", "Oh, Biology", "Busted", "Bring My Baby (Brother) Home" and my personal favorite "Women and Sandwiches." It is a fabulous score!!

Women and Sandwiches is the only misfire in this otherwise very fun score.

"It does what a musical is supposed to do; it takes you to another world. And it gives you a little tune to carry in your head. Something to take you away from the dreary horrors of the real world. A little something for when you're feeling blue. You know?"

"Women and Sandwiches" was the only song that made me cringe the entire time I saw the show at Signature in DC. Love, love, love the rest of the score and show, but really, that's the metaphor you come up with? frown
