After tonight I felt the show had definitely found its footing! And the fun casting continues with the adorable Michael Esper from The Lyons and American Idiot. I see Margo is making an appearance next week!

Confused as to why my DVR did not record last night's episode.... Hopefully it's on demand soon.
If not today, it should be on tomorrow.

He was also the lovable kidnapper/new father/possible pedophile/woodcrafter, "pock-marked man", Doug in The Family. I laughed out loud when his character basically listed every podcast, TV and radio show I subscribe to in his rant regarding what would go missing if the funding for The National Endowment for the Arts was cut.
Laurel's kind of a little vixen, isn't she? One minor spat with Aaron Tveit (which seemed to be motivated a bit by his jealousy, as well as some genuine concern for her) and suddenly she's in bed with the hairy-chested uber-hunk? I want to be her.
I was glad to see that Gustav found a playmate this week! IMDB shows that Marcus Ho is only in for two episodes, though. Darn! I thought I saw a little spark of bromance going on there...
I remember him well on that show Mr. Adams. He also was on the Jennifer Lopez cop show last year and played a man that was having an affair with her male boss. I am sad I did not see him in The Lyons. He has done a lot of stage work and his parents are acting teachers.

What did you think about the decision to bring Megan Hilty's character off the TV screen and into the "real world" of the show?
I'm willing to see what direction it takes, but my first reaction is one of disappointment.
For me, part of what I found to be clever about the show are those peripheral roles of the TV news personnel. They functioned as kind of a Greek Chorus - commenting on the state of affairs (usually in the background), but they were "not real". By that, I mean that they provided commentary and narration, but were restricted to their literal "boxes", and did not interact with anyone in the "real world" - unless someone from the real world entered theirs.
All of their appearances were literally "flat" and 2-dimentional, like Chinese puppets. I enjoyed thinking of them as being "not real". They were caricatures of people in our (the viewing audience's) world. As such, the writers could use them to depict how our world functions.
Now that Hilty's character has literally stepped "outside of the box" and mingled with the humans (like Xanadu), that cleverness is lost for me. If the writers continue to show her as a "real" person, who has a personality that is "defined" within this show's world, I will have to abandon what I previously saw as being clever. I can't continue to see her being both "representational of..." and as a realistically (within the world of the show) defined character.
Will they do something similar with the "Rachel Maddow" character? If not, there will be an unenjoyable inconsistency (for my tastes). If they do, I'll be doubly disappointed. Either way, the show might be starting to lose me...
Does that make sense?
EDIT: I apologize for my overuse of "air quotes" in the above...
This show is so great.
Mr Adams, I respect your opinion but I disagree with you about Megan Hilty. I am glad they are taking her off TV and having her act with the rest of the cast. I just love her and it is funny to think of Megan Kelly sleeping with a senators aid. They seem to be all about showing how horrible people in both parties are equally, so I am sure they will do something like that with the other girl.

I'm happy for the actress, but (currently) disappointed for the character. Still, I'm okay with being patient to see where this might go.
From what I've seen of Beth Malone's Instagram from her time filming - it looks like her character will crossover from being just seen on the TV screen to being a part of the action.
Edited because people are HILARIOUS.

Running mental re-calibration script. (This may take a few minutes... It's an old system.)
BrainDead is set to bug out.
CBS’ freshman comedic-thriller is moving to Sundays at 10/9c, starting July 24, to be replaced in its Monday slot by the network’s coverage of the opening nights of the Republican and then Democratic National Convention (on July 18 and July 25).

OHMAGAWD
so good...! Favorite of many moments:
"The Reagan Hut"
EDIT (PS): The significance regarding the symptoms of being deaf in one ear, and exhibiting a lack of balance has suddenly dawned on me.
The Shaloub character reminds me of old Chuckie Schummer. DVR'd it last night so no idea what happened. Wonder if the move to Sunday was due to the convention or to boost ratings.

Damn, that was good!
Wow, I really didn't expect a show about water boarding to come dressed up as an alien-abduction spoof. What a coup to manage to do both well. Hat's off to the BRAINDEAD team. It's the only show on air now that I refuse to miss.

As its intent? I don't think so......I'm sure its future is dependent on ratings. (which I don't follow)
The two black supporting actors are adorable. Nikki James (Tony Winner from Book of Mormon) and Johnny Ray Gill? They make me smile just being on the screen.

Most fun parts of the episode:
• opening bugs commercial
• doe-eyed panda
Could have done without:
• bug sex
Has Tony Shalhoub's valley girl dialect gotten thicker over the past couple of episodes?

I was just going to comment on that. I did not realize he was doing that kind of dialect. I thought he had made it up. I find the ooh sounds to be very funny!
"
I am trying to figure out if TS is attempting to do the "ball-a-mer-(?) more" accent. It's almost annoying at times. They should get a dialect coach if that's what he's aiming for.
Thankfully the main core quartet work so incredibly great together, along with the pacing and dialogue, you can go with the flow. (The ensemble/whole cast, well, kudos to the casting director).
