At the start of the trailer Patrick tells the cab driver that he "used to live here, for almost ten years" - not that he had been gone ten years.

Thanks for clarifying. I missed that.

Well we agree there, anyway. Those who disliked it in the Uk also had the "the characters are so unlikeable" complaint (a complaint I never got--I don't watch things based on if I would like to introduce the characters to my grandma) but also more of a worry about straight people watching it and thinking Gay's are sex obsessed.

I still ill can't believe how chopped up and censored it apparently was when Logo aired it (being Canadian I don't get Logo but why have a gay network that can't show nudity?) and am disappointed there's no N American DVD release though Amazon does have the uncut version streaming.

Creator Russell Davies apparently has gotten the green light for a new one season drama about gays in the 80s...  (And yes Freddie Fox, sigh)

In terms of gay series, I like the Australian series Please Like Me.

Perhaps because, despite a gay main character and depiction of gay issues, it doesn't necessarily feel like, "this is a gay series, for gays! Gays have to watch it! It's for gays!" It sort of does its own idiosyncratic thing.

I really struggle with having not liked Looking when I really like Girls, which is another side of the same coin-rather unlikeable characters, not much happens. However, Girls is compelling to me. Not sure of the exact difference.

Please Like Me is brilliant (aren't we due for a fourth season soon?)  It does do a really clever balancing act I think of being a gay centered show really (IMHO anyway) and not just an ensemble show where one character is gay, and yet it does still focus on non gay stuff.  OK I didn't explain that well at all...

(Of course its critics also complain about none of the main cast being "likeable"Looking movie trailer

I thought the series was very well done. The location work was very authentic and I liked the fact that the characters were imperfect as we all are. They were all on a journey to find themselves which for all of us continues through our entire lifetime. Groff is a fine actor who obviously had some strong teachers along the way.

I saw a screening of the movie last night in San Francisco.  It takes place 9 months after the season 2 finale.

Was it at The Castro? We're any of the cast or crew there?
