I had a friend who was at that club. Fortunately the first thing I saw this am on fb was that he was ok 

I read that this was the worst since 9/11

We're all in pain over this. I hope for healing for all of us who have been affected, directly or indirectly. 

Also, I apologize for my earlier posts, which have clearly caused offense. That was not intended, but I should be more careful at times like this.

I want to know about the mom who had been looking for her son (and only child) since 3AM when she suddenly woke up and checked facebook . She was sobbing on the news. Heartbreaking...

I have been in tears all day in between fits of anger and disgust. I have many friends in Orlando who frequent that  club, especially on a Saturday night. Luckily none of them were there last night but my heart is broken for those who fell victim to this senseless act of violence.

Add to that my best friend who is in L.A. For their pride march who informed me that a heavily armed man was arrested en route to that parade site and I've just been walking under a cloud of shock and disbelief and anger and disgust. 

I am going to attend the vigil/rally being held tomorrow in front of New York's historic Stonewall Inn tomorrow. If anyone wants to join me feel free to inbox me or just show up and show your support and let's show these animals that their hate will not win!

Solemn greetings from Burlington, VT. This was truly disturbing news.  I refuse to sign into FB today to avoid a barrage of posts from the god squad that will only upset me more.  I'm told that some older family members have already reached out to some younger cousins who are gay (or rumoured to be) encouraging them to accept their Saviour's plan of salvation before it's too late.

South Florida, a young family member backchanneled me begging me to help regain control of the narrative.  This is a tragedy on so many levels.  It infuriates me that some of my FB friends would exploit this terrorist act to curry favor with their sky father.

This is terrible, and I feel emotionally affected by this news. I hope that people of influence can take this opportunity to stand up and criticise ANY ideology that holds negative attitudes towards homosexuality. Whether that be Islam, Christianity or Hypermasculinity. This is 2016, and this hatred has no place in modern society.

I was at a gay club in Berlin tonight and at 2am the lights came up and the DJ made a speech about what happened in Orlando. This was followed by a minute of silence. It was a pretty moving moment. Just wanted to say that we're standing with you guys over here too.

Tragically, her son Christopher was confirmed dead to her by the police.

That is so sad. She was telling the reporter through her tears that he had gone to Sea World in the afternoon and that she talked to him at 6PM to discuss her upcoming surgery. Those details really got to me. That poor woman.

The gunman's father said he was upset over seeing two men kissing recently.

The father lives by Sharia law.

"Sharia" punishes homosexuality with death.

So why is Sharia not prohibited in the USA? You can raise your sons with a full conviction that you must kill gay people because Allah wants it as punishment, and expect no trouble out of that? That is the basis of this crime, this act, years later is a result.

The father should have taught him as a child that 2 men kissing is nothing to be upset by. Why didn't he? The problem lies in the upbringing and indoctrination. And that goes far, as we can see in this situation. Because then you create unstable people that panick when they see something that does not match their identity. The father should have taught his son a lesson about reality when he was younger. Instead of letting him grow up in some twisted bubble. The Muslim community is full of gay people who are scared to death of their own families to be themselves. But of course they need to be able to keep the freedom to take freedom away.....

We must treat this problem at the start, not just the result years later.

Spare me your indignation against Islam's homophobia until you first show me your indignation against homophobic laws being proposed and passed in North Carolina, Mississippi, Indiana, and Georgia.

The people who want to see this as a Muslim problem, or mental illness problem, or hate problem, or loser issue, are all going to overlook the fact that this was first and foremost a gun problem.  We can't do anything about the millions of ticking time bombs, we can't do a thing about mental illness, hate, losers, we could deport all the Muslims.  Or, we could ban assault weapons and maybe 40 or so less people would be dead today.
