"It's a bad joke, predicated on a puerile supposition and an impossible outcome," seems like a sentence you'd find in a textbook called A Comprehensive Guide on How to Engage One's Sense of Humor (Fourth Edition; with updated analysis of the perceived comedic merits of cowbells).

"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."

Someone almost unfriended me over negative comments about the "Mr. Bunting" sketch. I didn't get it, but certainly many people found it top drawer SNL, maybe for its dark, sustained irreverence? It was so lavishly appointed, I wanted more, or less. (Couldn't see how the script generated to production values.) But it's become yet another lightning rod, of a sort.
