Bad news = now it's sitting on my desk like a giant distraction.

I haven't even opened it yet, I'm just staring at the cover. Might be fun to let the anticipation build all day and not actually open it until I get home.

My take on Hamilton The Revolution

“Hamilton The Revolution" has a long subtitle on the frontispiece in the style of 18th century literature: “Being the complete libretto of the Broadway Musical, with a true account of its Creation. And Concise remarks on Hip-Hop, The Power of Stories, and The New America.”  It is a souvenir book for fans. But it is a handsome souvenir book, and — like the show and its creators — one with impressive ambition. Indeed, it is ambitious enough so that calling it a souvenir book is as reductive and misleading as calling “Hamilton” a hip-hop musical. Neither description is inaccurate; they just don’t give the full flavor.

The book is currently Amazon's #2 bestseller in all books, just behind "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child." Amazing.

Just ran to Barnes and Noble to purchase it. Started flipping through it and holy s***, this book is gorgeous. Can't wait to dive into it more in depth tonight after work!

Hmmmm....one of my pages (from 55-58, so four book pages but one physical piece of paper) is not sewn into the book.  It didn't rip, it just never got attached. Very odd.

Is the binding of the book glue-bound or sewn? If it's sewn, it sounds like that page missed the stitcher somehow.

If it's glue-bound (most books these days are), then the page broke free of the glue or didn't get glued.  

Glue binding is much cheaper, but the downside is that if the glue isn't very good quality the pages will separate from it and then you'll have whole parts of the book coming loose and falling out.  So if it's glue-bound, be very careful with the spine and don't try to flatten the pages down if the book is lying open.

It's sewn, and it's obvious it didn't get attached.  Amazon is sending me a new one, even before I have to send this one back.  So very sweet.

Awesome!! And I'm glad to hear it's sewn binding.  I hate glue-bound books. I've got a bunch at home and it's inevitable that some of the pages get unstuck and come out.  Sewn binding is a mark of quality.

Yep- preordered it at the Drama Book Shop. Didn't arrive today...the wait is killing me- but I know it will be worth it!

Jealous of you all!  Mine was supposedly delivered, but not here.  I had another package not arrive today.  Think they both went to another apartment building.  Now I have to wait two weeks to Hamiltome comes.  Kudos to Amazon who replaced my order immediately though!

OK, I stopped by the local Barnes & Noble on my way home from work to check out the book.  They had three of them sitting up front on the "new releases" table.

Very nicely put together, but I have a question: All three of the books had an issue with the block of pages inside the book "bowing" so they didn't sit flat between the two hardboard covers - the book basically looked like this:

Is that usual, or did B&N get some books that were not bound properly?  The book is very cool, but if I set any of them on the table the hard covers didn't sit flush against the inside pages - every one of them had the same thing going on.  Anybody else have a book that's doing that? I didn't buy one because TBH it looked like a defect.

It also appears to be temporarily sold out on Amazon. Or at least, directly from Amazon. They still have it available from other sellers on Amazon. Instead of the usual "Two day shipping" text under the purchase button, it now says "Usually ships within 9 to 12 days" and "Free prime shipping when available." Nice!
